A jacket and a blanket were also found near the bones, Nelson said, which were in a remote area about a mile from the road.

In a statement, Sgt. Scott Dudek said the person could be John Brown or Thomas Brown, a transient who had been living in the Dublin Canyon Road area.

A coroner called to the scene confirmed that the bones were in fact human and probably those of a male. Deputies found other bones scattered nearby, as well as pieces of clothing.
While investigators believe that the remains are of Brown, they are also trying to find family members to confirm the identity through DNA or dental records.
Anyone with information can contact 510-667-3636.
