This is ok here Kat. This thread is for missing persons, the other is for the unidentified. In some cases such as this info may be duplicated because some info may belong in both forums.

More people than you may think vanish every year in and around Idaho

[snip]

The oldest case in the Idaho clearinghouse is from 1968. Fred Miller, a 66-year-old Wendell farmer, went missing after patronizing a bar near Bliss in Gooding County.

“Subject was last seen in the company of two hitchhikers,” his listing says. He was driving a white 1960 4-door Rambler with Idaho license plate 2G 1488.

A few years ago, human remains found near Bandon, Ore., at first were believed to be Miller, but DNA comparisons with a relative didn’t show a match, Gooding County Sheriff Shaun Gough said.

“It’s a cold case that has no leads,” said Gough, who was a year old when Miller disappeared. “But we haven’t forgotten about him.”

He said previous sheriffs had dredged the Snake River looking for Miller’s Rambler and dug up yards looking for evidence.

Miller is one of 21 people listed under in the “involuntary” category of the missing person clearinghouse. Involuntary means abducted or kidnapped.

Dozens added to Idaho's missing person database

More than five dozen people have been entered into Idaho's missing person database since January.

The oldest case in the database is from 1968, when Wendell farmer Fred Miller disappeared after leaving a bar in Gooding County. Miller, 66, was last seen in the company of 2 hitchhikers and was driving a white four-door Rambler, according to the Missing Person Clearinghouse, which lists Miller among people believed to have been abducted or kidnapped.

"It's a cold case that has no leads," said Gooding County Sheriff Shaun Gough. "But we haven't forgotten about him."

Fred Miller’s file on Idaho's Cold Case site:

Fred Miller disappeared August 17, 1968 in Gooding County. He was last seen with two male hitchhikers after leaving a bar in Hagerman, Idaho. Miller was driving a white, 4-door Rambler Ambassador, with Idaho plate #2G-1488.

According to a past news clip, the hitchhikers were Idaho men who are known but have yet to publicly be identified. One may be deceased, the other person of interest may have been in a nearby state prison in 2007.

Miller left a wife, Bernice, and six children.

A few years ago, human remains found near Bandon, Ore., at first were believed to be Miller, but DNA comparisons with a relative didn’t show a match, Gooding County Sheriff Shaun Gough said.

Was more than one family member compared? Sometimes people are adopted and don't know it or for several other reasons the man they think is their father is not their biological father.

Miller, circa 1968; White 1960 Rambler Ambassador

Reviewing posts made by Idaho Cold Cases on different years (Facebook) run by Crystal Douglas, we can see the persons of interest, “hitchhikers” were local twin brothers, possibly living in the Gooding area. We can also see that at least one of them went to jail, and the other died in 1970. Leaving Hagerman, from Wilson’s bar, Fred would be driving to Wendell. Taking Tuttle rd, (he had 2 routes he could take) he could have planned to dro them closer to Gooding. Seems like we could figure out who these TWIN brothers of interest were/are.
