Woman goes missing in northwest Harris County

Authorities are searching for a woman who went missing earlier this month in northwest Harris County.

Irene Alvarez Porras, 54, was last seen about 9 p.m. Aug. 13 in the 12300 block of De Forrest near Bammel North Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office

Porras was wearing a white T-shirt and sweat pants.

She is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office Missing Persons Unit at 713-755-7427.

A former Ganado resident has been missing in Houston since Aug. 14.

Irene Alvarez Porras, 54, was last seen by her ex-husband and son in their Houston home near Veterans Memorial Drive and Bammel North Houston Road, according to Porras's brother, Michael Alvarez.

Texas Equusearch conducted a foot-search of the area around where Porras's cell phone was found on Saturday, but did not find any more leads.

Irene Porras, 54, disappeared from her home in northwest Harris County and police are worried about what may have happened to her. Irene was last seen by her husband and adult son at the family's home on De Forest Street near Bammel North Houston Road at 10:20pm on the night of August 13. Her husband went to bed and her adult son went out, and that's the last they heard from her.

Investigators believe there may be criminal activity related to her disappearance.

Texas Equusearch began looking for Porras on Aug. 28 in Humble. Volunteers on foot, horseback and all-terrain vehicles have combed the area to no avail.

"We have been working the case actively. Even as recently as the last week, I've been out looking myself," said Frank Black with Texas Equusearch. "The family called us immediately when they found out about the cell phone being found. The family asked us to stay on the case and continue looking for her, and we have."
