Human skull found in KC yard

From Christine Vendel: Kansas City police are working with a forensic anthropologist to find out more about a human skull that was found in a back yard Saturday night in the 3700 block of Myrtle Avenue.

A man checking on a relative’s property found the skull near a garage about 7:50 p.m. Saturday. It was unclear how long the skull had been in the yard. The man told police he had not been in the yard for four to six months.

KC police find skeleton in woods near yard with skull

Kansas City police conducting a grid search this morning found a headless skeleton in thick woods about 50 yards from where a man found a human skull on Saturday.
Police believe that an animal or animals had dragged the skull away from the rest of the bones. A man checking on a relative’s property found the skull in a back yard in the 3700 block of Myrtle Avenue.

[His] sisters describe Terry as kind and always willing to give hugs, but he also had a problem with drugs.

"He started hanging out with the wrong crowd," Pamela says. "And Jan had helped him as much as she could - she knew she was enabling him."

The last time the sisters talked with their brother was five years ago, after he moved from Joplin to Kansas City.

"You always wondered where he was, if he had enough to eat, if he had a place to stay," Jan says. "I kind of always waited for a collect phone call because when he wanted money or shoes or something he always called me collect. And the day that I told him I couldn't do that anymore was the day that he quit all contact with me."
---
"He wasn't in Kansas City without acquaintances," Jan says. "Somebody knew he wasn't around anymore. Somebody knew that he was missing and didn't report it."
