Classification: Missing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vital Statistics

Date of Birth: June 1, 1959
Age at Time of Disappearance: 23 years old
Distinguishing Characteristics: White male. Blond hair.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Circumstances of Disappearance
Bryan Ambrose was last seen on September 8, 1982 leaving the Rainbow Motel, 3709 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado and was going to the Denver Metro area.
On September 9, 1982, Ambrose’s Ford pickup truck was found in Pueblo, Colorado, without license plates. He was visiting Manitou Springs from Oklahoma in search of a job. Soon after arriving, Ambrose had called his wife and said he had three job prospects and missed his family and wanted them to join him. He was never heard from again.
He left behind a wife and a 3-year-old daughter.
An acquaintance who supposedly had found Ambrose one of his job prospects later told police the two went drinking in Denver, Ambrose got arrested and couldn't post bond, and he never saw him again. But there was no record of such an arrest.
When Ambrose's wife of five years didn't hear from him, she came to look for him. She reported him missing September 15, 1982.

Snipped:
One such case is on Schaller's desk right now, collected in a 3- inch binder. Cops call it a "cold" case. In fact, it's been almost 19 years since Bryan Ambrose disappeared while visiting Manitou Springs from Oklahoma in search of a job. When the toothy 23-year-old with a mop of blond hair disappeared, he left behind a wife and a 3-year- old daughter, who now has her own child.

Soon after arriving here, Ambrose had called his wife and said he had three job prospects and missed his family and wanted it to join him. He was never heard from again.

"He just simply vanished," Schaller said.

An acquaintance who supposedly had found Ambrose one of his job prospects later told police the two went drinking in Denver, Ambrose got arrested and couldn't post bond, and he never saw him again. But there was no record of such an arrest, and Ambrose's truck later turned up in Pueblo without license plates.

When Ambrose's wife of five years didn't hear from him, she came to look for him. She reported him missing Sept. 15, 1982.

Police never could crack the case, and a body never was found.

Ambrose's wife and daughter simply had to live with the ache of the unknown.

More at link above, interview with Bryan's family.

Bryan has been missing almost 28 years. Prayers for his Wife, Daughter and Grandaughter who was born since he has been missing.

Come home soon.

Bumping case up. It has been over 30 years since Bryan Ambrose went missing.

For some reason, this UID discovered in 1997 in Ft. Collins, CO sticks out at me. Similar mention of a slight gap in the front teeth and lots of hair. Also, an Oklahoma connection with both.

Is it possible he dropped off the radar for many years before turning up dead? If this was Bryan, he would have been 38/9 years old at the time of death. The UID is listed under 40, max 30.

Bryan wouldn't have willingly left his child, I can't imagine he would have just dropped out of site for 15 years with no contact.

Is Carlos Anthony Torres missing also? If not, was Carlos ever asked about where Bryan was going and his mood/state of mind [etc] when they parted ways?

I think the story about them going out to party in Denver is suspect -- especially since the car was found in Pueblo. Denver is over an hour north of Manitou and Pueblo is about an hour south. Maybe a red herring deliberately set.

I worked at the Rainbow motel in the mid-90s. Back then, summers were filled with mostly vacationers with a handful of "weeklies" -- tenants that paid weekly who were typically "transient". Back in early September, the Rainbow would still have many tourists. It is still one of the few motels on that main drag with a pool, so it was very popular in the summer. Once summer was over, almost the entire clientele was weeklies.
