MARCO, Indiana — It was Oct. 15, 1996, two days before her brother's birthday, and 79-year-old Eva Hale had driven to the Marco Cemetery with a pumpkin to put on his grave.

Clifford Hauck had died six years before, after suffering burns in a brush fire on his farm. The brother and sister had been close their whole lives, and Hale often visited his grave, near the graves of their parents and two siblings who died as children.

Late in the day, Guy Hale got a phone call at his Terre Haute home. Someone who lived near the Marco Cemetery had noticed Eva Hale's white 1983 Chrysler New Yorker had been parked under a tree at the graveyard for hours and thought it was odd.

It's about 40 steps from where police found the car to Hauck's tombstone. Eva Hale disappeared from a cemetery on a remote rural road, with just a few houses and farms nearby. In 15 minutes on a recent afternoon, just two pickups and one semi-truck passed by.

....

Very odd case. The Greefield Reporter link seems to be defunct. Was Guy Hale her husband or son or what?

According to this 1998 article a man called Roger Long, who was charged of murdering a woman called Pam Foddrill, was also believed to have also killed Eva Hale.

Court documents indicate Indiana State Police investigators are looking at Long in connection with the death or disappearance of two people in addition to the death of Foddrill.

Foddrill last was seen alive Aug. 18, 1995. Her body was found Dec. 2, 1995.

According to court documents, two Lawrence County inmates who had been Long's cellmates here said he told them how he abducted and killed Foddrill; how he disposed of a second woman's body; and how he disposed of a third victim.

The second woman is believed to be 79-year-old Eva Hale of Terre Haute. Hale has not been seen since Oct. 15, 1996, and her body has not been found.

Bump for Eva

Eva Hale's last known location was at the Marco Cemetery in Greene County Indiana. The town of Marco is South West of the town of Bloomfield (County Seat). Eva's vehicle was found abandoned at the Cemetery at the time of her disappearance.
