Investigators are trying to figure out what killed a woman whose body was found dead in cornfield near Wenona.

Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies were called Wednesday afternoon to a field south of the Super 8 Motel and Pizza Hut for the badly decomposed body.

Investigators think the body had been there since spring. Found near the woman was a bag of personal items and cash. They believe she was middled-aged.

Her name isn’t being released as an investigation continues. An autopsy is pending.

I google mapped directions from Centralia, IL to Woodstock, IL, and the directions showed a relatively straight shot up US-51, with Wenona being right smack in between them on US-51. There is a missing Woodstock resident who was last seen in Centralia, supposedly on her way home to Woodstock; disappeared exactly four months ago. Wonder if this could be related...

LE has an id on the remains found. this may or may not be Beth Bentley missing from Centralia, Mt. Vernon, IL May of this year.

Since LE has an id on this person which has not yet been released we'll have to wait and see.

 
There is zero discussion regarding these remains at the BB FB group so I doubt they are Beth. If they were, they would have leaked it at the FB group before official word was public.
