A family member drove Anita Jeanie Kustock to Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights yesterday morning.

Kustock suffered a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Police say they learned about the death at 7A.M. Yesterday when they were contacted by the hospital.

While calling the incident a death investigation, Orland Park has enlisted the assistance of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Detectives from that agency were in Riverside from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday to interview staff, including Limperis, Superintendent Jonathan Lamberson and at least two other colleagues.

7 am in the morning, no one calls police or ambulance?

That is indeed strange. The report said she was dropped off by a family member, but doesn't say which one. Once that name is released, I can run a check on them. Why would someone drive a mortally wounded woman to the hospital rather than call an ambulance with life support systems on board? Hoping she would die first? Let me check around and see if I can find out who was living in the house.

As far as I have found thusfar, only her husband lived in the home with her.

She was DOA at the hospital. I wonder how long she had been dead? Maybe the "family member" is going to claim they didn't find her until they got up in the morning.

TOD will be interesting.

The mother of Comcast SportsNet reporter Sarah Kustok and former Northwestern University quarterback Zak Kustok died from a gunshot wound to the face, and her death has been ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police were releasing few details about the death of Anita Kustok, of the 10900 block of Royal Oaks Lane in Orland Park, but sources said authorities were questioning a person who brought her to Palos Community Hospital.

What a shame, she was a beautiful woman.

My condolence to her friends and family.

I'm not surprised LE is being careful what they release. This is going to be 'high profile' because the victim's son is in the media. They most likely formed a 'task force' type group for the investigation so they can complete the matter ASAP. You know how the public is? They want things within an hour, like CSI.

It'll be interesting to see what happened.

A source told the SouthtownStar on Thursday that it was Allan Kustok who drove her to the hospital. Ninety minutes passed between time she was shot and the time she arrived at the hospital, sources said.

WBBM-AM (780) reported she had been shot in the left side of her face, even though she was right-handed, and she was wrapped in a blanket or sheet.

A source said Orland Park Police were to hold a press conference until forensic evidence could be processed, which can take a while.

So, if this man did shoot his wife, what might he have hoped to gain? Seems pretty stupid, at this point in time. A "perfect family" reputation down the tubes.

Their son and daughter must be crushed.

Allan Kustok gave his wife a gun to celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary earlier this summer.

Wednesday morning, a bullet from it tore into Anita Kustok’s face.
Woken by the sound, a grief-stricken Allan Kustok tried to wash the blood away, tidied the room in the family’s Orland Park home, then carried her from the couple’s marriage bed to his car.

She was “a proud woman” — too proud for ambulances, he would later tell authorities.

It was almost 7 a.m. when he pulled into Palos Community Hospital — 90 minutes after she was shot.

She was already dead.

That’s the story of accidental death Allan Kustok tried to sell authorities, sources close to the investigation say.

But authorities weren’t buying.

Kustok was charged Thursday with first-degree murder in the case, said Sally Daly, a spokeswoman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

I really must ask "Why?" The children are grown and gone. No one living in the house or dependent upon them (I guess), what was wrong with a divorce?

Condolences to the son and daughter, and to the children Mrs. Kustok taught, and also to the ones she had yet to teach. She seemed to have been highly regarded in her teaching capacity. What a shame for many.

WTH is this guy's problem?

My mom went to High School with her. She said she was the nicest, most wonderful person. She's pretty taken aback by it and upset of course.

The woman's son was a Big 10 football player 10 years ago. Her daughter is a sports announcer.

What the heck happens after 35 years of marriage and two successful kids that makes you want to kill your spouse with a gun you bought them for your anniversary??

ETA the purchase of a gun mere months ago screams pre-meditated to me.

ETA2: RUMOR I heard that he made it look like an intruder or something did it. Again, pre-meditated with the gun purchased mere months ago.

um, a gun for an anniversary present?

really? how romantic.

RIP Anita.

According to a Cook County State's Attorney spokesman, Allan is due in court at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Bridgeview Courthouse.

( This is Orland Park's local news )

OMG I live in Orland Park and have a court date in Bridgeview tomorrow at 10 for a traffic accident. Talk about coincidence. Shocking to this town. I'll report back anything I see/hear. Wow.
