SALISBURY, N.C. -- Salisbury police are investigating a suspicious death of a man who was found dead in a wooded area on Wednesday.

According to police, an employee of the Chick-Fil-A restaurant on East Innes Street found a note that was left on a newspaper box near the restaurant.

Police said the note stated that the person writing has discovered a body in the area and gave a description leading to its location.

The victim details:
-a black male
-a small build
-approximately 5 feet, 6 inches
-140 pounds
-had suffered burns
-blue jeans
-red flannel shirt
-blue ball cap
-a black 10-speed bicycle

The death is investigated as suspicious and information is requested at the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-JAIL (5245).

I'm glad he did the right thing and still found a way to notify police of the body.

I'm glad he didn't just run away and pretend it wasn't there. I hope the police are being kind to him.

I hope so as well, after all, he could have just ignored what he saw for fear of getting in trouble himself.

Update: Previous description was incorrect; he is a white male.

He was identified as Milton Bryant Barber, 58, of Salisbury. Rest in Peace, Milton.
