Jenkins, however, was last seen about 10 a.m. Sunday.

She drove to Hank’s Place, 3922 Ames Ave., a bar she inherited at the end of August, Millard said.

Police found her car in the bar’s parking lot.

Thanks, FHC

Beautiful lady! Prayers for her safe return!

first thing that comes to mind would be the contractors who were doing the renovations especially if they used day laborers to do the work. these types of workers often have no documents, all paid in cash and employers don't often know who they really are.

just my 2 cents at this early point.

A locked door at hank's place bar and an empty parking lot the scene at the last place Karen Jenkins was seen.

She's been missing since Sunday and her car was found in the lot.

A man that lives in the area tells KMTV Action 3 News he saw Jenkins talking with a man he had never seen before.

She was last seen Sunday. Her car parked outside the bar she owns, Hank's Place. Family members tell KMTV Action 3 News that nothing is missing from the bar that's being remodeled.

Jenkins also never picked up money from the barber shop she owns, and she never turned on the business' alarm.

Jenkins had planned to re-open the bar in the next few days. It has been closed for months after this summer's death of the previous bar owner, Hank Stevens, according to a family friend.
Jenkins' car was found in the bar's parking lot, and the back door to the bar was open.

In reading this news articles, it seems that Karen liked to do maintenance work herself. She had called her brother that morning to ask about a plumbing problem.
But it does seem something happened after she arrived at the bar that morning.
One witness says he saw her talking to a man.
The back door was open.
The alarm was not set.

I keep thinking, did the bar or the building itself have security cameras?
Did the adjoining businesses have security cameras?

This woman is well traveled and seems able to take care of herself.
And if abducted, has the skills to communicate well with people, but
then,
if abducted, none of that may matter, if the intent is to do harm.

Hoping for the best outcome.

She had her doctorate in conflict analysis and resolution, which I think would be helpful in all areas of communication. It would seem that even if she met an intruder, she might be able to use her skills to reason with him.

Perhaps LE has some clues that might be helpful, including the description of the witness who saw her talking to a man that day. It would be nice to have a positive outcome in this case.

About 30 people canvassed a five-block radius, handing out flyers with Jenkins’ picture in hopes of sparking someone's memory.

Jenkins’ sister Cynthia can only cry now, saying Jenkins was close with family and they talked every day. “When she did not show up to pick her brother up to work on some property, that was the first clue and then she did not show up to teach her class at Metro, which is really unusual."

The group will continue the search on Friday.

What a beautiful lady. She sure has accomplished alot in her life.

Praying she is found. :praying: Her brother and sister need her home.

The back door to the bar was open. Her cell phone, keys and purse were missing.

Police have said they have not ruled out foul play.

Lt. Trevor O'Brien, head of the police department's child victims/sexual assault unit, was at the scene to thank the volunteers and go over any information they had.

O'Brien said the canvassing efforts turned up “several different directions to follow up on.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-444-5838.

Just posting a little bit more from that news article...

So, there are some leads... and what is it with the sexual assault unit head? I guess that could be a logical conclusion.

Yes, praying for this situation. Sounds like it could very well be her....

Body Found Under House

Omaha police confirmed they were conducting a homicide investigation after a body was found on Saturday near 40th Street and Ames Avenue

http://www.kmtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13376444

Family friend Michelle Milard says a neighbor visiting with searchers wished them well, then walked through a nearby alley where he found a body.

Milard says they are hoping for the best, but prepared to learn Jenkins may be dead.

So sad. She had given her life to teaching... was obviously very accomplished. I hate this for her family, and I hope LE will be very proactive in finding who did this.

Omaha police are treating the case as a homicide, said Lt. Darci Tierney, a spokeswoman.

The body was found north of Ames Avenue at a gray house along 40th Street.

The crime scene includes Hank's Place, a tavern, and Big Jim's Barbershop.

Those properties are owned by Karen Jenkins, 48, who was last seen Sunday morning. Her car was found in the bar's parking lot.

It seems that she has been found very close to the place where she was headed.

I can only hope that there is a quick resolution to her murder.

I sit here with my head resting on my chin and wonder why a woman who was a teacher had to have her life taken from her. We all come here every day to get up dates on so many cases hoping to find good news. Yet more times than not the good get taken.
Rest in Peace Karen Jenkins and know through your teachings you touched many lives.

Rest in peace, Karen Jenkins. Such a sad situation ...

My condolences to the Jenkins family.
