NEWFANE, N.Y. (WIVB) - There are disturbing charges against students in Niagara County. The case is part of a nationwide war on bullying.

Some students at Newfane Middle School have been suspended for targeting a 6th grader. Ironically, the incident occurred just two and-a-half weeks after a district-wide program challenged students to take a stand against bullying.

Every day the students at Newfane Middle School walk past a banner they signed accepting the challenge not to mock others and to treat people the way they want to be treated. But last Thursday night on Facebook, some students invited classmates to target a fellow 6th grader for harassment. According to Principal Tom Adams, one student responded this way. Adams said, "'I can kill him if you want me to.' Very serious."

Adams said ten students had signed up to annoy the bullying victim, but five openly declined on Facebook. 6th grader Jamie Loverentz said she didn't have to think hard before rejecting the invitation.
