Regarding social networks
Regarding facebook, twitter, and myspace you can link but do not cut and paste. But the goal is to really only link to those that are directly linked to a case.
IOW, we don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman , or postal carrier just because they know the main player. It just gets too invasive and half the time we are not even sure it is the right person. When a post starts out, I found 5 people with this name do you you think any of these are [insert person here]? that is not a good thing.
It will often be up to mod discretion as to who can and cannot be linked, but the general rule of thumb is if they are named in the media specifically as having some role or are being questioned or have information then you are probably safe to link. No screen caps and no cutting and pasting. If a social media is set to private and you get in the back way and post what you see, that is not a good thing!Private means private.
Just imagine if is you if you cannot decide and you shoulod be able to figure out if it is ok.
You are free to discuss what you may come upon, but if it is just a lot of gossip and rumor it won't fly. People open facebook accounts and post whatever they want and to carry that as some sort of inside info is careless. but, sometimes there is really valuable information that may even come into evidence as in the Caylee Anthony case. So, if you know for a fact it is the right person and they are named outright in the msm as someone linked to the case it should be fine. IF IT IS A MINOR DON"T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!
If something was posted as public and then removed you might be able to post it, it is up to the mod of the forum and it depends on who, what, when and where.
The mods are listed at the bottom right of the forum under the index, they can generally help. If not, they will ask admin for guidance and we will all decide what is best.
Generally we try not to invade everyone's privacy and if the linked information has no bearing on anything, then leave it out.
We moderate here. Some people love it and some people hate it. Up to you to stay or go, choice is yours. Complaining about our rules doesn't help. if you have a suggestion or think of a better way, bring it on! We are far from perfect and welcome your input as long as it is civil and basically polite.

Rumors are not allowed! No sleuthing AY his facebook page or the London Dude. If you have questions please PM me or a Mod, we will be happy to help. Lets keep the threads dedicated to Zahra. Thank you.

Any news if they are going to have a presser? TIA

Good thing I finished my essential work this morning, I don't know how much I'll be getting done even if I can manage to minimize this window...

Praying for you Z!

ella, Rad Berky (WCNC) said in an earlier tweet that a police statement was coming in about an hour (which would be about 5pm). No idea whether it will be a presser, though.

Thanks everyone who replied to Kat-- my computer got bogged down and I couldn't respond..

Searchers Find Bone That May Be Related To Zahra Case

Police have not said where or when the bone was found.

It is extremely difficult to tell human from non-human bone, depending on which bone it is, and what condition it is in, without taking it back to the lab - at least with enough certainty that one would express an opinion to the media in a high profile case. This is especially true with children, who have so many more bones than adults that it gets quite confusing. So, we may be in for a wait, and it might turn up not to be the key to the case - just to warn people to wait and see.

It's time to come home Zahra. Please let this be you.
:praying:

Please note that in fast-moving threads like all of Zahra's have been, we moderate on the fly.

We remove or edit posts very, very quickly.

In a "normal" thread we try our best to notify posters about problems with posts. That is nearly IMPOSSIBLE in Zahra's threads.

If having your post edited or removed because of a problem the moderators see in it is going to cause you to go into a tailspin, meltdown or tantrum, then you might want to reconsider posting and just read.

Let's all put on our big girl or big boy panties and deal with it, ok?

Please click the thanks button once you've read this.

Thanks,

Investigators say that search teams in Caldwell County have discovered a bone that may be related to the Zahra Baker case. The Hickory Police Department said the bone will be sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for further examination. Once their examination is complete and if it is determined to be related to this case, it will be sent to the NC State Bureau of Investigation's lab for further testing.

I can't help but wonder if they found the part of the bone which would have had the prosthetic attachment on it.

The bone will now be sent to the medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill for further testing. After those tests are completed and it's determined that the bone is connected to the Zahra Baker case, it will go to the SBI lab in Raleigh for additional tests, according to the Hickory Police Department.

Deal said investigators are not necessarily finished with the area.

"We are going back until we're satisfied we've recovered everything," he said.

Strange wording. Seems if they have found a bone that they even suspect could be Zahra's they would be swarming on the place to find more.

I was just gonna ask if they found the bone in the pond

An anthropologist could tell pretty quickly if it's human bone or animal. I doubt if they have one of those handy, though.
But... with just a month or so passed... there could be tissue still on the bone, which would be immediately identifiable as human to a practiced eye.

I don't get why the leg wasn't in the water. Course maybe that was a moment of smarts - thinking LE might drain a ton of ponds.
