There are a few things that bother me. Who pulls over for a random stranger? Did Jed know the person who flagged him down? The passenger wasn't shot even though they were a witness. Who was the passenger who can't give any description?

The military told Jed Sr. that Cole was coming home from 7-11 with a friend when the shooting happened. They said a car pulled up behind Cole and signaled for him to pull over. When he did, the driver of the other car got out and came to Cole's window and shot through the glass. The passenger immediately called 911, but couldn't provide police with a description of the shooter or his car.

Sounds personal to me. I hope LE gets the that did this. Jed Naisbitt was so close to getting out and going back home. My sympathy and and prayers go out to the family and friends.

Rest in peace, Jed.

More info at the below link which for me leads to more questions. Killeen LE will not return the father's calls and LE still hasn't ruled on nature of death. Excuse me, but what else could it be besides homicide???? ETA: Now that we know the roomate got out of the car before the shooting, how do we know that the roomate didn't walk around to the drivers side and shoot Jed?

Naisbitt’s father, Jed Naisbitt Sr., of Ogden, said he learned from military officers that his son was driving with his roommate, a fellow soldier, when the two were led to think there was a problem with their car about 1 a.m.
Another driver "may have been signalling" to them, the elder Naisbitt said.
When Cole Naisbitt pulled over, the passenger got out to check the car. That’s when a motorist got out of another vehicle, walked up to the soldiers’ car and, "at point-blank range, shot Cole in the head," the father reported.
The passenger dropped to the ground at the sound of gunfire and did not see the shooter, Naisbitt said, relaying the military’s findings.

I have a hard time believing that a random cars pulls them over and then proceeds to shoot 1 of the guys and leaves the other.

#1 is it possible that him and his roommate had an argument, roommate shoots him and then makes up the best story he can in a short amount of time. Did they check him for GSR?

I wonder if the 7-11 has video of what happened there.

I am a big skeptic of the roommate.

Lets say he for some reason wants to kill,or have Jed killed, so he gets him off base in the middle of the night, whoever he is working with pulls up and flashes the lights, the sign for him to get out of harms way, shots fired, roommate see's nothing.

After several calls to the Killeen Police Department, Dr. Naisbitt grew frustrated with the lack of information about who killed his son and why.
Rather than wait, Naisbitt says he's working with a family friend--a criminal attorney in Houston--and hiring a private investigator to look into the case.
"Fortunately, I have the resources that I can pay for getting my own answers if I need to, and that's what I plan to do," says Naisbitt, "If we find out why he was killed, that's really all I want to know."
Naisbitt says his son wasn't the type to hang around gangs or use drugs, which makes the circumstances of his murder even more confusing.

"Naisbitt was the nephew of Byron Cortney Naisbitt, who was a torture victim in the 1974 Hi-Fi murders in Ogden, Savage said. Byron Cortney Naisbitt survived the ordeal, but his mother, Carol Naisbitt, and two others did not. "

Actually, Cortney did succumb to his injuries; it just took years. He was severely brain-damaged (he worked for a short time at Hill AFB, with my cousin as his "overseer"). He wasn't very capable, but did eventually marry and move out of state, where he later died at age 50.

Those of us from the area knew the Hi-Fi shop well, both Byron and Jed Naisbitt (both were my doctor at various times) and I worked at Hill AFB, where the perpetrators were stationed with the 1550th ATTW.

I don't believe a bit of the story, and the (frankly) ineptitude of military police is well-known; they're not trained to investigate murders.....or even robberies. I remember being stuck on base for hours in the early 1970s, because someone had robbed the on-base credit union. It was never solved. :banghead:

Cole's dad is smart for hiring his own investigators. I believe this murder was deeply personal.

Killeen police have little suspect information in the city's two most recent murders, prompting officers to call on the public to provide clues and tips to help solve the crimes.

Police continue to investigate the Nov. 20 murder of Fort Hood soldier Pfc. Jed Paul Naisbitt, 30, of Ogden, Utah, and the Tuesday murder of Thracey Danyell Flourney, 32, of Killeen.

The murders are not believed to be connected.

Killeen Police Department spokeswoman Carroll Smith said there is scant suspect information in either of the murders.
