Social Networks & Rumors
(original post from Mod Imamaze)

Regarding social networks

Regarding facebook, twitter, and myspace you can link but do not cut and paste. But the goal is to really only link to those that are directly linked to a case. WE ARE LIMITED IN THIS CASE BY THE SUPPRESSION ORDER.

IOW, we don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman , or postal carrier just because they know the main player. It just gets too invasive and half the time we are not even sure it is the right person. When a post starts out with: "I found 5 people with this name do you you think any of these are [insert person here]?" that is not a good thing.

It will often be up to mod discretion as to who can and cannot be linked, but the general rule of thumb is if they are named in the media specifically as having some role or are being questioned or have information then you are probably safe to link. No screen caps and no cutting and pasting. If a social media is set to private and you get in the back way and post what you see, that is not a good thing! Private means private. Just imagine if is you if you cannot decide and you shoulod be able to figure out if it is ok.

You are free to discuss what you may come upon, but if it is just a lot of gossip and rumor it won't fly. People open facebook accounts and post whatever they want and to carry that as some sort of inside info is careless. But, sometimes there is really valuable information that may even come into evidence as in the Caylee Anthony case. So, if you know for a fact it is the right person and they are named outright in the msm as someone linked to the case it should be fine. IF IT IS A MINOR DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!

If something was posted as public and then removed you might be able to post it, it is up to the mod of the forum and it depends on who, what, when and where.

The mods are listed at the bottom right of the forum under the index, they can generally help. If not, they will ask admin for guidance and we will all decide what is best.

Generally we try not to invade everyone's privacy and if the linked information has no bearing on anything, then leave it out.

We moderate here. Some people love it and some people hate it. Up to you to stay or go, choice is yours. Complaining about our rules doesn't help. if you have a suggestion or think of a better way, bring it on by pm'ing one of the mods! We are far from perfect and welcome your input as long as it is civil and basically polite.

Rumors are not allowed! If you have questions please PM a Mod, we will be happy to help. Lets keep the threads dedicated to Chantelle and her parents. Thank you.

Thanks,

Salem

We have some special rules for this particular case based on the laws in Australia. If the article names the accused and the suppression order has not been lifted, then you may not post the link. However, if the accused is not named OR if the suppression order has been lifted (you need to link to this information) then you can post the link.

Questions about moderating and/or rules should be sent to any moderator via pm and not posted in the main threads as it disrupts the flow of discussion.

ALSO - we have lots of new posters here. Please make yourselves familiar with our Terms of Services, Rules and threadequitte here: The Rules - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

Let any of the mods know if you need assistance with the rules or if you have other questions, by sending them a pm.

Salem

We ask that you refrain from using the alleged suspects name and please do not post any of his pictures.

It has come to our attention that the judge has suppressed parts of the evidence, including the alleged suspect's name. Although we are not in Australia and not obligated to their jursidiction, we are a crime forum and our mission is to help bring justice to victims. Therefore, we feel we should go by the judge's orders.

ALSO - do not link to social networking sites AT ALL
-do not link to ANY site where the alleged suspect's name might be used.
- No Screen caps.
More: Please supply links to any media reports you are posting. Remember, we can only post 10% of the article and MUST link.
Pictures from other sites ( except for the alleged suspect) may be copied here, but you MUST supply a link to the original source of the picture.

I will post my last here again (hope that is ok) because it is new info and was the last post on the previous thread, so may be missed>>>

I just discovered something on FB.
Probably of no relevence, but here it is.

Rose started work 1 week before she died at Scholle Industries in Elizabeth West.
I can show the reference but probably shouldn't post it here as it is a personal FB page.

Scholle Packaging is a world leader in bag-in-box packaging for the food, beverage and industrial markets.

The person who posted that info also posted this bit "the true story is Chantelle was bagging this guy all over FB and he liked her heaps and when he read what was said he did it that night"

The poster says she is a good friend of the family, esp Chris.

Thanks for pointing out the house info guys.
I just thought they were the same pot plants on the balcony.

Midsommer I think you may need to eleborate a little on the above comment.
Do you know what kind of comments were said?

What relevence do you think the new job has?

Did anyone see the accused's F/B comments prior to the event?

I just got home, suppression lifted? Can someone give me a quick update please?

oh - sorry - oversight there on my part - apologies. I have spent the last 2 hours catching up on the forum - lots of new info. Lots more internet speculation too. Not sure what to believe any more.

Well dang, I thought I would come back and there would be tons of information :(

THE actions of the sole surviving member of the slain Rowe family expressed the words he still is too distraught to speak. In a show of courage and maturity beyond his years, Christopher Rowe remained silent as he joined hundreds from the Mid North town of Kapunda in bidding farewell to his family, murder victims Andrew, Rose and Chantelle.

Thank you for posting it, may they rest in peace

That could coinside with the rumours he was publicly humiliated at the party the night before.

Also my brother worked at scholles for three years handling wine bags so il see if he can ask anyone that he still may know there if they know anything.probably irrelevant to case id suggest

Something must have set him off, but we haven't heard much about that yet have we?

Yes, could be interesting, although she was only there for a week but may have had some friends who already worked there.

^^ I can't make any sense out of that lol. I need to re-read I think...

Hey guys,
My only intention was to let you all know what i had been told. I think the journos version adds up, i can also see why someone would also target the parents. Especially if they had had issues with him, and his feelings towards C. Maybe he now made C uncomfortable.

For me the parents being home makes no sense, a brutal stabbing murder means C would have made noise. The parents would have had to be alerted.
Them being out to me means the targets so to speak were spread out. Journo made mention he didn't do it alone, whether that be he had an accomplice, someone helped before or after the fact i don't know.

I hope i helped a little and didn't make it more confusing, or upsetting or step on toes.

This is the thing about FB posts, there would be a lot of unsubstantiated rumors flying around Kapunda, particularly in the early days before the arrest, and just afterwards. I don't think we should put much stock in them. Do not believe 'guys' did it, or that a 15 yo girl was involved. If minors are arrested for crimes, the fact that they are, and their genders / ages are usually published, they are just not identified.

Good morning Sleuthers, I am back from a little <modsnip> holiday" <modsnip>
Been a frustrating few days but rules are rules, so here we are. Still frustrating us all I can read. Very sad day yesterday...Great to read up on all your efforts! Cheers

Welcome back :)

Plenty of interesting posts, the last half of the last thread had some interesting stuff, some new

There is a lot of stories going around and I cannot dismiss any of it until I have all the facts, I only have some. But if you take even some of what may of been done to the victims, It reminds me of what a jealous woman who could not stand being rejected by her man-remind you of anyone(or anyone else, as it was proved over the case) She actually stabbed him to death in a horrendous fashion, actually skinned him like a rabbit pelt , hung his skin on a hook in his house, leaving he de-skinned body exposed in a significant pose in the lounge. She then put his severed head on the stove, chopped some veggies as if cooking a stew, Laid out plates for dinner (for his kids???) and at some stage went to bed. When the police came across this scene she claimed (and still does-actually did for a long time, but suprising everyone, changed her plea to guilty very early in the trial I actually meant to say she hasnt spoken about the details, ever)) to know nothing about it. Awful isn’t it? But this happened in Australia, not that long ago.

It never reached the heights of media frenzy I would expect but a lot was not told in the public arena. her name was Katherine Knight, her slaughtered partner was a typical Aussie bloke called John “Pricey” Price. An excellent book by Sandra Lee covers it extensively. A wicked woman in a small country town…I will cover it here when I find some time

(I might add, she has said next to nothing and only gave police one interview in the early stages and has stayed silent since, treated children wonderfully the town said, but when it came to men was a woman scorned at the smallest bump in a relationship!)
