Authorities are investigating reports of an armed student holding a classroom hostage at a high school in Wisconsin.

Police are on scene and no injuries are reported at this time, Marinette County Emergency Management said in a news release, without confirming a hostage standoff.

Police received a call just before 4 p.m. local time of an armed student at Marinette High School. Parents were asked to respond to the county courthouse to receive information on their children

Thankyou, this is the first I have heard of this here in PA

Student with Gun Holding 24 Hostages at Marinette High School
Marinette's police chief says a student armed with a handgun is holding 23 students and a teacher in a classroom.
---
Marinette Police Chief Jeff Skorik says it's a male student armed with a handgun. He is using a teacher as a liaison to authorities outside the school.

Chief Skorik says despite reports on social media there are no injuries reported, and no shots were fired.

Dozens of students and family members have gathered at a hair salon near the school. They tell us they're worried because they don't know exactly what is going on, and there are a lot of rumors.

It was the first I heard of it here in Wisconsin! I've been looking for more info, haven't really found any yet. This is a link to a local newspaper, no other info yet, but they are running a little streaming announcement up on the top.

Not much new info here (http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/lo...cle_9f72515e-fc15-11df-b4fd-001cc4c002e0.html), just a small quote from a teacher:
Choral teacher Bonita Weydt said she was talking with a teacher in another classroom after school, which lets out about 3:10 p.m., when principal Corry Lambie came in.

"I said, 'Corry, what's going on?' and he said, 'Get out of the building,'" Weydt said.

Scary.

Here is a link to the H/S webpage. I haven't seen it yet it keeps loading and loading. I'm sure the net traffic has slowed it down. If this started around 3pm the situation has been going over five hours.

School schedule is 8am to 3:12pm.

Update: Student Holding Hostages has No History with Police
---
They don't know what his demands are or what prompted this. The student doesn't have any history with police, Chief Skorik said. It also isn't known whether the student was supposed to be in that classroom when this began.

Chief Skorik said the situation started toward the end of the school day -- while school was still in session. Authorities weren't notified until later, after other students had left.

Dan Kitkowski, regional editor for the Marinette Eagle Herald and the parent of a Marinette High School senior, told a Journal Sentinel reporter that the situation unfolded during a 6th period Western Civilization class that began between 1:30 and 2 p.m.

His daughter and other students enrolled in the class the following period were turned away at the door to the classroom by the teacher, who told them to go to the school's library.

"She (the teacher) looked a little nervous but nobody thought anything of it," Kitkowski said during a telephone interview
