A German artist has invented a machine that automatically dishes out comfort to people in distress.
Jennifer Baumeister, 31, built the green "Comfort XxL" from an old slot machine.
At the push of a button, a screen shows a short video of somebody saying encouraging things.
Baumeister told the Berliner Zeitung she had painted the machine green as a sign of hope.
Those who use the machine can chose whether to be comforted by a man, woman or child.
Baumeister videotaped some 100 people, and their messages range from two young women chanting "You are great! You are beautiful! You are so fantastic!" to a man's more down-to-earth "Remember, it could be worse."
