I hope the republicizing the $25,000 reward on this case will bring in some leads.

Very happy to report that there is an identified suspect in this case. He is in prison in Texas so they should be questioning him soon. The article doesn't say how they identified him, but I imagine they got a DNA match since his information would have been entered thanks to his other arrest. http://www.wdsu.com/news/local-news/...l/-/index.html

The article does not say that only her DNA was found, it just say the tests did not reveal any suspects i.e. no match.

"There have been no arrests. The District Attorney's Office has yet to file any information. DNA tests whose results came more than six months after her murder yielded no suspects"

In September 2013, Detective Winston Harbin received information about a possible suspect in the murder investigation. Harbin traveled to Beaumont, Texas, to speak with Brant. During the interview, police said Brant confessed to stabbing Hawk.
It does sound like they got a hit on the DNA.

I don't know, Margarita, but I'd be looking at assaults inside the home, like in Jessica's case. He's serving 11 years for Burglary of a Habitation in Orange County, TX.

This has to be him. I searched federal and state facilities. There are two inmates who match the first and last name. The other guy is causcasian.

I wonder if they can tie him to the murder of Helen Hill.

I can't believe they have a suspect! I haven't posted here in quite awhile but decided to look up Jessica's case. Couldn't believe it when I saw someone confessed. I hope they do scrutinize his past and see if he was involved in other cases. I also followed the Helen Hill case and wondered like the previous poster if there is a connection. God bless both the Hawk and Hill families.

"Joseph Brant come forward to accept responsibility for these previously unsolved murders," said Brant's attorney, William Sothern. "He wants to resolve these investigations and bring closure to the families. He is ready to do his time."

Brant had already pleaded guilty and was awaiting a lifetime prison sentence imposed in Dec. 2016, in connection to the stabbing death of botanist Jessica Hawk in her Bywater home on August 11, 2008.

I read about that confession last night and immediately searched for her on websleuths to see what the theories/news was up until now. I didn't follow her story in 2008. When I saw no one had posted this, I was like - all I hope they see this! He didn't seem to fit the profile everyone was thinking. Glad he confessed. Can't believe they found him as a suspect 4 yrs ago and are just getting what they need from him. Glad it happened though! May she Rest In Peace. Finally!
