Nikitta Grender, 19, was killed just two weeks before she was due to have her baby.

The young mother-to-be was found dead by firemen in the gutted flat after neighbours raised the alarm.

Miss Grender had moved into the rented flat in Newport, Gwent, late last year with her boyfriend as she prepared to give birth to a baby girl.

But following a post mortem examination police say Miss Grender died before the horrific blaze tore apart the first-floor flat.

So sad for this family - losing a daughter & granddaughter. :(

I hope they catch the monster that did this to Nikkita & her baby.

A 26-year-old man has been charged with the murder of pregnant teenager Nikitta Grender, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

Carl Whant will also face a charge of child destruction and will appear at Caerphilly Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Thanks so much Texas Mist for updating on here while I've been away.

This is a really horrible and sad story. Someone evil destroyed a young woman's life. Nikitta was looking forward to motherhood. It would be interesting to find out later why the killer did this. That charged man was the second cousin of Nikitta's boyfriend. Apparantly he was a doorman, into martial arts, ex soldier and has a kid of his own.
 
I wonder what happened. I am glad they have the murderer. Thanks Texas.

In 2011, Mr Morris was living with 19-year-old Ms Grender at the flat they shared in Broadmead Park, Lliswerry, Newport. The couple were expecting the arrival of daughter Kelsey May. But in the early hours of February 5, ex-nightclub bouncer Whant left a nearby house party he attended with Mr Morris to rape Ms Grender, before stabbing her in the neck and belly...

Whant was given a minimum sentence of 35 years after being found guilty of murder, rape, child destruction and arson at his trial a year later...

Cousins Mr Morris and Whant had been &#8220;like brothers&#8221; prior to his crime, his trial was told. But cocaine-user Whant had held a secret fixation with Ms Grender.
