Man sought in deaths of 3 children in suspected meth lab fire

Atlanta (CNN) -- Investigators in Georgia were looking Friday for a man who left the scene of a suburban Atlanta house fire that killed three children, authorities said.

They said the fire was caused by a suspected methamphetamine lab in the Lilburn, Georgia, home.

Gwinnett County Police Capt. Jake Smith said Ivan Gonzalez had been charged with two counts of murder Friday, a day after firefighters found him attempting to douse the blaze with a garden hose.

Gonzalez, who Smith said received burns in the fire, told authorities he was a family member and was headed to the hospital to be near the children injured in the fire.

Gonzalez, who is not related to the children, never reached the hospital, authorities said. Authorities checked other area hospitals and did not find Gonzalez.

Evidently he fled after the fire and is still being sought... Since they know his identity, I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before someone notifies LE of his whereabouts. So tragic...

Hopefully they catch his sorry tail and quick. Still nothing is going to bring those kids back. I pray they didn't suffer.

Connor, his friend identified as Joshua, and a third passerby who had a ladder worked quickly to get the children out of the home. The teens told Philips the children were unconscious in an upstairs room.
“We climbed on the roof and brought the children through the window,” Joshua said. “I would pass them to someone else.”

They said his face may have been burned by the fire. Investigators told Kavanaugh that Gonzalez was last seen driving a late model silver or gray Honda Accord or Civic. Gonzalez also uses the alias John McGowan Torres, police said. Smith said he may flee the state or try to cross into Mexico.

Probably Unrelated to stabbing of 3 boys under 3 last week in same area.

"In a strange twist, authorities said Gonzalez was arrested last week on false documents charges at a Suwanee home where police found murder suspect Antonio Cardenas-Rico, 28.

Cardenas-Rico was later cleared in the fatal stabbings of two Lawrenceville boys, ages 1 and 3, when surveillance videos at an ATM and businesses proved he was elsewhere. He remains in jail on drug charges.

The boys’ father, Elvis Garcia, 23, is charged in the slayings. The third son he allegedly stabbed, Joshua, 3, remains in critical condition.

Smith and others said the two incidents do not appear to be related. There’s no known connection between the two crime scenes, Porter said."

MOOI am curious. Seems to me they are related! This man Gonzales... who is on the run knew both the mothers of all 6 of these children and 5 are now dead! While Gonzales didn't stab tyhe other babies, meth may be at the root ya think? :banghead:
