OR - Logan Jack Storm, Beaverton teacher sought by Interpol

I don't like this one bit. I was surprised that I hadn't seen this before as I keep a close eye on child *advertiser censored* arrests in Oregon. My baby granddaughter lives in Beaverton. I just checked the archives of the Oregonian and there was no earlier article. Heck, parents weren't even notified until the district got wind that this article was going to run, it seems. No notification even though complaints had been made about the teacher. And he was seeing a "former student" who is now a stripper? Being Oregon, 18 year olds can strip. They can't drink but they can strip. That always blows me away. So I'm assuming that a girl who was a middle school student in 2005 must have become a stripper as soon as she hit 18. One wonders what the relationship entailed throughout those interim years? I'm so pleased that the former girlfriend handed all this over to LE. I'm going to make a wild guess and say that Beaverton parents are not going to be pleased with the way this played out.

"The police investigation into former Beaverton Middle School math teacher Logan B. Jack Storm started last summer when his girlfriend discovered pornographic images on his laptop of 8- to 11-year-old girls having sex with adult males..."

"....She further told detectives that the white Apple MacIntosh laptop computer was a laptop she'd seen Storm us both at home and at work. "She has watched him use the computer to provide a presentation to his students at school," according to the search warrant affidavit. Police obtained a search warrant for his North Portland home, and seized his laptop, and thumb drives about 1:16 a.m. on July 26.

While investigators were checking the contents of the laptop, the 35-year-old man allegedly left Oregon, headed to Canada.

By August 27, Storm was indicted on 30 counts of encouraging child sex-abuse in the first-degree, and he had fled the country, potentially to Ireland. On the day of his indictment, his bail was set at $2 million if located. His departure surprised officials at Beaverton School District, where he was scheduled to resume teaching that fall. Storm started teaching at Stoller Middle School September 2005 and was there until August 23, 2010..."

"...SF, a former counselor, said several staff members found Storm's contact with students inappropriate and had made their concerns known to Stoller's principal, FR. "This guy was giving us the creeps, getting way too friendly with students," SF said. Several times, SF said she found him eating alone in his classroom with a female student with the door closed. "It didn't feel right, but nobody listened to us...."

Storm had been a subject of an unrelated child abuse complaint made to Portland police on July 10, 2007 regarding inappropriate touching. Police declined to release it. He also had been the subject of a parent's complaint to the school in 2007 regarding inappropriate behavior, but the complaint was unfounded..."

They got him. I guess reading that Interpol is looking for you can give one pause. Now, I'd like a full investigation as to why this crime was handled the way it was by the district.

I hate to say it but if they aren't an ex girlfriend/wife and/or disgruntled they are busy turning a blind eye to what is being done to their own children by the perps in way to many cases. MOO

This is a shock. Make sure you check out the defense's failed strategy. How horrid to think that he could have gotten away due to a technicality...the difficulty of proving in just which county images are downloaded onto a thumb drive.

So let's have a look at what was said yesterday:

Sussman said he feared Storm would flee before sentencing, noting that the teacher had fled the country in July 2010 after police seized his laptop and thumb drives but before he was charged. Storm, who left without saying goodbye to his then-12-year-old son, did not return for seven months.

But defense attorneys maintained that Storm has been out of custody for nearly a year and a half awaiting trial without incident. A federal judge granted the request for him to remain out of custody until sentencing....."

Hmmmmm

This man frightens me. IMO, he's been given far too many "chances".

"Logan Storm's electronic monitoring bracelet was cut off and left in a Troutdale park Tuesday night, according to federal prosecutors, just hours after a jury found the former middle school teacher guilty of possessing child *advertiser censored*.

Officers with the U.S. Marshal's Office, the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies are pursuing leads in trying to track down the former Stoller Middle School math teacher. They are also urging the public to be on the lookout for Storm’s green Ford F-150 pickup truck with the Oregon license plate 726 CKA...."
