Gloria was last seen on Friday, March 6, 1981 as she left her job in Horsham, Montgomery County.

Gloria's brother had last spoken to her in early 1981, when he called her from his home in Massachusetts to say that their mother had undergone heart bypass surgery and was in the hospital. In the following weeks, her family made dozens of calls, being told that she either wasn't there or wouldn't come to the phone. They left numerous messages, but never heard back from Gloria.

In April 1981 Gloria's mother received a Mother's Day card, ostensibly from Gloria. It was signed not with the familiar "Love, Gloria" but the more formal "Gloria Korzon". And it wasn't in her handwriting. That is when her family contacted the police. When the police chief went to the Korzon residence, Gloria's husband said that she had gone to visit an aunt in Florida. Gloria had an aunt in Florida, but she had not heard from Gloria in months.

About a month before Gloria disappeared, she sent a letter to her stepfather, instructing him not to open it unless something happened to her. The letter was a 3-page list of beatings that Gloria claimed to had suffered at the hands of her husband. The Korzons were not unknown to local police, who had responded to at least eight domestic incidents at their home between 1976 and 1980. Gloria filed for protection from abuse orders, but would always withdraw her complaints before the court hearings.

Gloria was declared dead in 1997, sixteen years after she disappeared. Foul play is suspected.

Bucks County makes arrest in 1981 cold case disappearance of Warrington woman

For nearly four decades, the disappearance of Gloria Korzon has haunted investigators and her family.

But authorities believe they finally solved the mystery as they arrested her ex-husband, William Korzon, on homicide charges, sources said. On Thursday morning, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office tweeted the man would be arraigned later Thursday.

Justice may take her time, but she will be coming for the criminals! This is fantastic for her loved ones. Not so fantastic for this old man! Hallelujah!

The unsolved murder of a Pennsylvania woman may have been put to rest after nearly 40 years as police charged her husband with murder on Thursday.

William Korzon, 76, was charged with criminal homicide in the death of his wife, Gloria, who was last seen in 1981 working at an electronics plant in a Philadelphia suburb. She was declared dead in 1997.

Korzon pleaded not guilty to killing his wife and told reporters as he left Jamison district court that as far as he knew, “she went to Florida,” and he had no idea where her body could be.

"During these incidents of domestic violence, Gloria suffered multiple injuries, including a broken arm, a broken collarbone, damage to her nasal bone and a black eye," the affidavit said.
According to CP "she broke her right shoulder in June 1980"

Maybe somewhere on WS or elsewhere there is an UID with this bone-injuries found.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - A decades-old homicide case in Bucks County has come to an end.

William Korzon, 76, pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter in the 1981 death of his wife, Gloria Korzon.

He admitted to shooting and killing his wife in 1981, then dumping her remains in the Delaware River. He also admitted to forging her signature on documents after she was dead.

He was sentenced to 7.5 to 15 years in prison as part of the negotiated plea deal.

Is this an officially closed case without a body now? “This case is closed,” Weintraub said. “This defendant is convicted, and hopefully this family will find some peace.”

Kind of BS if you ask me....the murder case was solved, not the missing persons case??

Complicating factor; Gloria was declared death years ago, her body never found.

It can't be that her missing persons case is also closed, can it? Although this seems logical if she is declared death, officially. How does this work?

Doing a search, her missing files are still up, though.

If there is no DNA added to Namus/Codis by now (Doe Network says, no DNA), there is no chance her remains will/can ever be identified.

If her husband told the truth and he put her body in the Delaware river is there a possibility her remains will ever be found/wash ashore f.i.?...are there locals who could say something about that? I guess in theory everything is possible, but what are the statistical chances her remains will ever be found.

In other words will this case ever be solved or should we let go based on the information available. My feelings say never give up....on nobody, but....is is realistic to put a lot of effort in solving her missing persons case.

Thank you @dotr for posting. I have very ambivalent feelings about this. The woman went missing in 1981 and it took decades for somebody to wake up and re-open her missing case. There were so many concerning circumstances around her missing that it's not rocket science to see this was foul play and a "who did it?".

On the other hand it must be very frustrating to more or less know who is responsible, but you can't prove it. And this people did. The society, values, forensic technologies etc, were very different in those days. I consider that changing as a good thing.

<<One of the witnesses who testified before the grand jury that indicted William was his former girlfriend, Barbara Gordeuk. She stated William repeatedly struck her during their relationship, and once told her, "the same thing is going to happen to you that happened to Gloria."

On the stand, Gordeuk admitted she'd previously made false statements to the police about Gloria's disappearance, that William had given her Gloria's birth certificate to put in a safe deposit box, and that she'd seen William and his late mother forging Gloria's signature. She also said William's mother regularly called his house after Gloria's disappearance, claiming to be Gloria.

In April, William was arrested and charged with criminal homicide, forgery and perjury in Gloria's case. He was also charged with criminal solicitation to criminal homicide; in 1981, he allegedly tried to hire Samuel Culp, one of his tenants, to kill one of the detectives investigating the case.

Culp also testified before the grand jury, describing William's offer. He also said there was a patch of concrete in the basement of the William's home in Warrington that looked newer than the others, than that he believed this was Gloria's grave. A search of the house with ground-penetrating radar in 2018 revealed there was no body, but that the foundation in the basement had been disturbed since the home was built.

A photo of him at the time of his arrest is posted with this case summary. He is awaiting trial, and told reporters that he was innocent and Gloria had left him voluntarily and moved to Florida.

Gloria was declared legally dead in 1997. Kidder inherited her estate, which consisted of a $56,000 bank account. Foul play is suspected in her case due to the circumstances involved.>>

Being as Kidder lied for so many years, I don't necessarily believe he dumped Gloria's remains in the river.
