"Bethany Anne Decker, 21, is believed to be about five months pregnant and was last seen Jan. 29. After weeks of failing to contact Decker, her family reported her missing Feb. 19. Investigators said they have no idea what happened to her. Her car was found at her last known address on Orchard Grass Terrace."

And her husband is deployed?! She's tiny, 21 years old and 5 months pregnant...where is Bethany? In the below article, it also says she has a 17 month old son who lives with a family member so she can attend school full time. No activity no cards, etc. How can they NOT suspect foul play?

Her husband was on leave and left to go back to Afghanistan on Feb. 2 - she hasn't been heard from since Jan. 29. Not saying anything. Just sayin'.

I have no idea why it took so long for her to be reported missing, but we shall see. Praying for her and her child(ren).

Okay this is my neck of the woods and my alma mater. I haven't heard anything, but my mom said the case was on the news this evening. She indicated that Bethany is from Ashburn.

Here are some pics of Bethany...

Close to me as well... I hope she is found soon.

There is video at the link.

A neighbor, who was interviewed, says that he would always hear arguing coming from the apartment on the 4th floor.

I read that on one of the comments, but couldn't find the link yet, so thank you for finding! I also read her family was estranged from her, which is why it may have taken so long for her to be reported...and if she was going to school full time, without a workplace to raise flags, there may not have been many people to check in on her. I know for sure that my University wouldn't have called to check on me for missing classes for weeks. =P Really doesn't seem good.

I wonder exactly when her husband left? (ETA: I see Truthful Lies posted above it was Feb 2 - so he was 'home' at the time... Would HE have reported her sooner? I mean, she was last seen 1/29 and he didn't leave until 2/2? Also seems that his deployment would have been delayed with his (pregnant) wife just gone missing? Something doesn't sound right with this.)

Her husband is in the military and was deployed to Afghanistan around the time Decker disappeared, DiBenedetto said.

Decker wasn't reported missing until Feb. 19. DiBenedetto said family members had thought she was with friends, and her friends believed she was staying with family.

17 month old NOT living with her so she could finish school? That seems hinky to me, maybe I am jaded, but there are many ways to go to school, and still care for your children, even being a "single" mom (with DH deployed) IMO

And a lot of arguing?

Estranged from her family?

I see an abusive relationship with hubby, and he knows exactly where he put her. And if I am wrong, I will eat my words, and my shirt :twocents:

ITA! They need to drag his fanny back here and question him!!

I personally wouldn't be able to be separated from my 17 month old, especially since those are such crucial years, but she was at GMU, and her program may not have had a lot of night classes - I know my school didn't (huge state school). Also, if she was having a troublesome pregnancy, etc. I'm not ready to judge her for this, at all. Maybe she was struggling with depression and she really had no help (from what I understand her family did not live near GMU).

I do understand her wanting to graduate - she has come far if almost there. I definitely suspect DH - I just hope he gives up where she is (hmmm..wonder if other soldiers will hear about this and maybe extract it?? Just crossed my mind, is all. That would be nice. :::whistling::

Poor Bethany...geeze. I hope this case gets publicity, and I hope if he does get charged, they don't find a prior history of PTSD, etc.

ETA: If he was home, and her 17 month old was with him, wouldn't he have wanted to spend his leave with his child, as well? How long were they married?

I totally agree!!!! But can they do that?? Will the military do that?

I don't know exactly how it would work, Im sure LE would send someone there?? I bet you he has already been questioned, they just have to prove he caused her to disappear

Kim Nelson says her daughter Bethany Decker is her lipgloss and flip-flop girl.

The college senior, who is also five months pregnant, was with her family on Christmas Day.

That was the last time anyone in the family saw her.

Investigators say Decker was last seen by a friend at her apartment in Ashburn on January 29. Police say her car was still in the parking lot, but she was nowhere to be found.

In Lori Arrowood's case they immediately brought her husband back... but I think they knew it was a homicide, he was not a suspect and it was Army, not National Guard. So who knows if they will do the same here.

So you are trying to tell me... that Bethany was last seen on Jan 29th.

And her husband left for deployment on February 2nd.

WithOUT seeing his wife?

I have known A LOT of military couples. Very few do not see each other the day they leave for and return from deployment! And the husbands would think it was an immediate emergency if their wife disappeared for a day just 4 days before they were to leave... because that time is precious.

I never, ever say something is suspicious about the husband. But I really don't like this. Unless they were planning on getting divorced and weren't really living as a married couple... or he claims that he DID see her February 2nd before he left. Otherwise... something isn't right here.

definitely need some answers from hubby here. When did he exactly leave and who was the last person to see her on Jan 29th? was it hubby? if so why did he not report her missing? or if they say had an argument and she took off and he went back to afghanistan when was the last time he had phone/internet etc contact with her and if he has had none why has he not reported that to someone.

No it is a fine timeline between the last time she was seen (and I am assuming that is by someone other than hubby) and when he left.

I also think it extremely odd that she does not have her 17mth old...something wrong there, was it his I wonder.

This article was updated a moment ago: http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/l...oman-Missing-More-Than-a-Month-117201403.html

Says "He has been here in the country on leave, and was with Ms. Decker back in January," said a member of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. "We need to come up with a timeline as far as their contact with each other before he was sent back to Afghanistan.Law enforcement officials said they are trying to arrange a face-to-face meeting with Decker's husband."

That article also answered the question of how long the marriage was - 1.5 years. So...around 18 months? Guess that doesn't answer out question about the other child.

ETA: Whoa. The lone comment on the story is interesting.

I was just going to post on that. A must-read, for sure. Puts a whole new spin on things... IMO.
