Carla Cook-Fuqua, age 28 in 2009, is missing. She is a mother of a young son and also a widow as her husband was killed in a four-wheeler accident. She also lost her father who passed away one year to the day her husband passed away. Carla was last seen on October 29, 2009 in the area of Piedmont Springs, Piedmont, Alabama at a friend's home. Her vehicle was found at the home, however, Carla was nowhere to be seen.

It seems like a "heck of a hot mess", I'm sure there are a lot of articles out there, post em' when you find them. I felt so sorry for her Mother.....

She certainly has reason to be depressed...I wonder if suicide has been considered? But it is odd that her mom said, at least back then, that she thinks Carla had been around town? Not sure what to make of that; had she indicated a desire to leave her life?

I totally think Danielle had something to do with it. Her mother said Danielle was using her car and her debit card after Carla disappeared. either that or it was a man in Danielle's life.

I can't find much else about her. So she was turning into the driveway - and then was gone? That's it? And they think she's been around some? Still no sign of foul play? Just trying to make sure I understand here.

UNBELIEVABLE! Has anyone ever seen LE post this about a missing person?
http://www.piedmontpolice.org/news

Mrs. Fuqua is a 28 year old white female with sandy hair and blue eyes. She is 5’04” tall and weighs approximately 100 lbs. More information can be found on Mrs. Fuqua on the Wanted Persons section of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s website at www.cherokeecountyalsheriff.com . Carla Cook Fuqua is currently listed as a wanted person for Failure to Appear on Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance and Failure to Pay on Negotiating a Worthless Negotiable Instrument.

I'm livid. This site makes it seem like she isn't missing, just that they can't find her to serve a warrant!

beli, it was kind of hard to understand exactly what her Mother, Darlene was saying, she was pretty stressed out. She did admit that Carla had a drug problem and at first they thought she ran from a charge. Then she spoke of "someone who had said she was thrown into a well", and of a man that "came out of the woods", literally, when this happened. The guy that gave "the man in the woods" a ride told her about it. They cram so many details in that if you have not followed a case, it's confusing!

So who's Danielle? :waitasec:

She also said something about her DL being found on a dirt road and the LE that brought it to her did not know Carla was missing.......anyone remember where the location was?

The well was in the GNATVILLE area.......

I found this from 2010:

Approximately 2 weeks ago, her drivers license was found on Greenwood Road, by a state highway employee. There is no way of knowing how long it had been there or how it got there.
...........
Some have suggested that she may be in Birmingham or Gadsden, Alabama although there seems to be no evidence on which to base such. Though it is accurately surmised that it would be difficult to so completely disappear in the small town of Piedmont.

Whew......saved by MSM.

Darlene Cook says her daughter went missing on Oct. 29, 2009. Durham said Fuqua was not reported missing by the family until three weeks after her disappearance. Darlene said she thought Fuqua was with Piedmont resident Danielle P. and didn’t report her for a few weeks.

Darlene said she received a call informing her that Danielle P. was in possession of Fuqua’s white 1995 mustang, and that the car was returned to Darlene on Nov. 1, three days after Fuqua’s disappearance. Fuqua’s purse, a leather purse embroidered with a red University of Alabama “A” was reported missing by her mother. Darlene claimed that the purse was in the possession of Danielle P..

Here's more on Danielle: (ETA - oops! posted same time as Teh!)

Darlene Cook says her daughter went missing on Oct. 29, 2009. Durham said Fuqua was not reported missing by the family until three weeks after her disappearance. Darlene said she thought Fuqua was with Piedmont resident Danielle P******* and didn’t report her for a few weeks.

Darlene said she received a call informing her that Danielle P******* was in possession of Fuqua’s white 1995 mustang, and that the car was returned to Darlene on Nov. 1, three days after Fuqua’s disappearance. Fuqua’s purse, a leather purse embroidered with a red University of Alabama “A” was reported missing by her mother. Darlene claimed that the purse was in the possession of Danielle P******.

Durham said that during an interview with Piedmont resident Marty L******** he told investigators he dropped Fuqua off at a rock wall on Piedmont - Jacksonville Road on the night of Oct. 29. A Search was done at what is known by locals as the rock wall (a low rock wall next to the road) on Piedmont – Jacksonville Road by Piedmont police and the Piedmont Rescue Squad on Feb. 7th.

Phyllis Cook said Tidwell told her during a phone conversation that the search at the rock wall was done “to shut you all up”. Cook received an emailed apology from Tidwell on Feb. 12.

...................

Danielle P******* was arrested on March 25, charged with fraudulent use of a credit/debit card. The card was linked to a bank account jointly belonging to both Fuqua and her mother Darlene. Durham said P******* may have allegedly used the card more than once, and that according to statements made by Darlene, P******* allegedly used the card without her permission. P******* court date has not yet been set, according to Durham.
