“Today I sit here and look into the face of what is supposed to be a man,’’ Cosby said in a stern voice. “You are a fool.’’

Cosby directed her cold anger and sharp words towards Jason Aquino, one of three New York City men who came to Cambridge on May 18, 2009, intent on robbing Justin Cosby of marijuana and cash.

Instead, Cosby was shot while all four men were inside the J entry of Harvard’s Kirkland House residential building.

“You lured to my son to his death,’’ Cosby told Aquino. “My heart sinks and every fiber of my body aches. When you killed my son, you killed a part of me.’’

The alleged shooter and mastermind of the drug ripoff plan, Jabrai Jordan Copney, is set to go on trial for first-degree murder April 4. Copney has pleaded not guilty.

The third man involved in the attack, Blayn Jiggetts, has agreed to testify against Copney in return for pleading guilty to manslaughter and receiving a prison term of less than 20 years.

One of three New York City men accused of shooting another man to death in a Harvard University dormitory pleaded guilty to lesser charges Thursday, just days after he and a second defendant reached plea deals under which they're expected to cooperate with prosecutors against the person accused of pulling the trigger.

Jason Aquino had been charged with murder and armed robbery. He pleaded guilty Thursday to manslaughter, armed robbery and willfully misleading a grand jury probing the May 18, 2009, shooting death of Justin Cosby, prosecutors said.

The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts on Tuesday denied an appeal for a retrial or a lessening of the degree of guilt by Jabrai Jordan Copney, the gunman convicted of the May 2009 Kirkland House shooting...

In 2011, Copney was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder. His two co-defendants pleaded guilty to lesser charges of manslaughter and received lighter sentences after agreeing to cooperate as witnesses in the original trial. Smith, who was only days shy of graduating, pleaded guilty to five of six counts and was sentenced to three years in prison.
