Police on Thursday, were searching for a missing Jacksonville man, who is a teacher at Wellborn Elementary School.

29 year old Kevin Thompson, was reportedly last seen Wednesday night, at around 10:30, in the company of two black males and one white female according to a missing persons flier published by Thompson's family and Jacksonville Police.

Neighbors say they saw the four outside Thompson's Jackson Trace apartment around that time.

Police have yet to determine whether or not foul play is involved in Thompson's disappearance.

Investigators say they have discovered, that Thompson's ATM card, had been used several times since last weekend, by people who were not Thompson; on Thursday, police were in the process of collecting surveillance photographs, from the various banks around Anniston and Jacksonville where the unidentified people had used Thompson's ATM card to withdraw money.

In one of those photos it appears that those people were also using Thompson's car, a silver 2005 two-door Honda Civic with the tag number KTT781; police are searching for the vehicle.

Kevin Thompson is described as a black male who is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs between 160 and 170 pounds.

**lots of good comments here**

From FB missing page:

The PD says they found his car last night, and one suspect is in custody and there a poi as well. He has still not been found.

Doesn't sound good. Hope they find him safe and sound.

The police chief also said that Anniston investigators had arrested a male suspect who was a childhood friend of Kevin Thompson, on charges related using the missing man’s ATM cards at banks around Anniston and Jacksonville.

~~snip~~

Curry said she pointed out that one of her son’s shoes was lying in the middle of the parking lot but that his car wasn’t there. She noted that her son’s door was unlocked, the lights and television were on and that a candle had burned all night, leaving its glass container black from the flame’s smoke.

Kevin is a pretty amazing guy. He's loving, talented, and very smart. I hope they find him soon. And, my gosh, he teaches 3rd graders! Imagine how his poor students are feeling too!! :(

can't believe the guy doesn't show up for work, TV on , lights on, Candle burned down, and his shoe is in the middle of the road and the police thought he went on vacation.

There is a candlelight vigil tonight at 8:00 in Jacksonville at the square for Kevin. Another is planned for tomorrow night in Anniston. I do hope they have answers soon. Such a nice young man, this is hitting too close to home for comfort.

A childhood friend of his?? How sad and tragic. I hope he is okay, I really do. And Surfie.... that was one of my thoughts as well. :(

The body of a missing Wellborn Elementary School teacher was found in Cherokee County just after midnight Saturday.

After hours of searching Friday night, police discovered the body of Jacksonville resident Kevin Thompson, 29, along the side of U.S. 278 in Cherokee County, Jacksonville police Asst. Chief Bill Wineman said early this morning.

Investigators identified Thompson's death as a homicide; Cherokee County deputies found the body, which had "injuries to indicate it was a homicide," Wineman said.
