She also happens to be a baby beater.

Amy Ennis, 35, was sent back to prison after 2 1/2 years out on parole. Apparently, she was released too early via a mistake. She is pregnant with her second child in a high risk pregnancy.

She battered an unrelated newborn in her care so badly that he sustained a fractured skull, broken legs and optic nerve damage. Yet, the article seems sympathetic to her.

She never should see the light of day again, IMO, let alone serve only a six year sentence for what she did.

Life's tough. You think you have served your time, you try to comply with all the rules, you begin a new life, you look forward to starting your family, and you begin to dream about a future with a new baby.

So many parallels. You have a new baby, you have dreams about your life together, you dream of a future. Then you come home one day and find your child beaten, broken. Your life and dreams as you believed possible now irrevokably changed.

At least she will eventually get out of prison. How about the baby she injured, the family she injured? Did they ever get out?

According to the article you posted, the baby has since recovered "except for some optic nerve damage." So I would guess no. Moved on maybe, adapted maybe, but still not the same.

I didn't read the latimes article as sympathetic, except in the fact that it was not an error on her part that she was released for almost two years??? I can understand the frustration of believing you've served your time and started over.

I wonder how old her other child is?

I can understand the frustration too but I don't feel sorry for this woman in the slightest. IMO, she should never be a mother and six years for such a crime is offensive. Six years? In the article you posted, she also fractured the poor baby's ribs and it appeared she had caused injuries on at least two, separate occasions.

Any person of normal cognition and intelligence who can batter a newborn infant is a severely damaged and dangerous soul with no hope of redemption as far as I'm concerned. It's grotesque.

I have no sympathy for her - she should have thought about what it would be like to do the time before she did the crime! She deserved way more time than she was sentenced to. She's lucky she didn't kill this poor infant - he will never be paroled nor will his family.

I'm guessing her family or former atty notified The Times to complain about this travesty - read the comments at the OP.

Totally agree....I was just trying to find out more on the back end of the story.

too bad, so sad
buh bye baby beater

karma is sweet

Baby beaters get no sympathy from me! IMO she deserves so much more, she was trusted to care for this baby and she has hurt him permanently!
