Specialist married to death row inmate joins Casey Anthony's defense
Rosalie Bolin is well-known in Tampa area.

By Amy Pavuk, Orlando Sentinel
11:22 a.m. EDT, May 12, 2011

Jose Baez just can't seem to stay away from controversy.

In the nearly three years he's represented Casey Anthony — whose case has enough drama of its own — Baez has been linked to a "spokesman" who tried to extort a journalist, and was working with lawyer Todd Macaluso until he got in trouble with the California Bar last year.

Now, Baez is working with a woman who's married to a killer sitting on Florida's death row.

The latest revelation came during jury selection this week, when mitigation specialist Rosalie Bolin appeared at the defense table with Anthony. As a mitigation specialist, her job is to find information about Casey Anthony's life that could help the defense in the event she's found guilty.

"Snip" Updated: 12:50 pm EDT May 12, 2011

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- More than 60 remaining prospective jurors are being questioned Thursday at Pinellas County Courthouse about pretrial publicity and whether or not they could impose a death sentence in the event of a conviction.

The first potential juror called is still being questioned, about two hours after the trial began on Thursday.

Abuse Claims May Be Used As Part Of Casey's Defense
"Snip"
Updated: 1:16 pm EDT May 12, 2011

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The defense tipped its hand on how it will defend Casey if she's convicted. One of Casey's lawyers, Anne Finnell, talked about the abuse that Casey claims she suffered as a child.

Casey's lawyers said she was sexually, emotionally and verbally abused.

"Lack of maturity, parental misconduct," said Finnell.

Casey sighed and swallowed hard when her lawyer shined the light on the defense.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said the defense has to walk a tightrope. They have to question potential jurors, even about the assumption that she's guilty to find out whether she'd get a fair shake at sentencing.

The first potential juror under the microscope said he hasn't formed an opinion about Casey's guilt or innocence, but does believe in the death penalty under certain circumstances.

WFTV jury expert Dr. Randy Fisher said the man may make it on the jury.

"He seems to be relatively moderate on most issues. He knows about the case, but he didn't follow it closely. Other reasons, he's in favor of the death penalty, but not terribly strongly," said Fisher.

Casey Anthony trial: Potential juror told to return tomorrow
"Snip" By Anthony Colarossi and Walter Pacheco, Orlando Sentinel

1:17 p.m. EDT, May 12, 2011
CLEARWATER — After four hours of questioning by defense attorneys and prosecutors, juror 1340 is asked to return to court Friday for more interviews.

Juror 1340 lives in Pinellas County. He's married. His 7 yr old daughter goes to Catholic school. The juror said he belongs to a church and his daughter attends a Catholic church. "There are a lot of things the Catholic Church is against that I don't necessarily agree with," he said.
At this rate, Chief Judge Belvin Perry's wish to go through potential jurors quickly today is not going to happen.

Perry expressed displeasure about the slow pace and probing questions before letting everyone take a short lunch break.

Baez complains about 'rampant speculation'
Before Number 1340 took the stand, Baez complained to Perry about media reports of him telling Anthony that she is acting like a 2-yr-old — reports he said are untrue.

Which Monster Killed Caylee Anthony?
May 11, 2011

Casey-anthony-crying

By Dr. Kenneth James Ryan, Contributing Writer

Three year-old Caylee Marie Anthony is dead, murdered and discarded in the woods. We ask with incredulity, what kind of monster killed this child? Was it the monster lurking under the bed, Hansel and Gretel's evil witch, or a dark stranger that softly lured Caylee away from the safety of her home with false promises? Or was the monster Caylee's own mother who murdered and then dumped the child as an inconvenience to her lifestyle?
