snip...Miller, 27 and the father of two young girls, was killed as he was entering the fourplex apartment where he lived in the city's Near North neighborhood. His grandmother, who also lived in the building, found him on the porch and at first thought he was merely unconscious, a family member said.

snip....McCarty declined to say what motive, if any, investigators suspected. But a cousin of the victim, Larry Smith, said it apparently started after Miller escorted a woman to her car.

"First thing I heard was he (Miller) was helping some young lady to a car somewhere," Smith said. "She was having domestic problems with her husband, and after Kris helped her, he (the suspect) must have followed her home, and he must've shot him when he went in the house."

from mysteriew's link:

Griffin, the suspect, is listed as one of four associate ministers of True Vine Missionary Baptist, a church in the 2600 block of North Thomas Avenue in the city's Willard-Hay neighborhood. The church's website lists his father as the senior pastor and his mother, Sara Griffin, as the church's "first lady." State court records show that since 1990, Derrick Griffin has been charged in at least 14 cases. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension lists him as using four aliases and shows his most recent conviction in March 2008, when he pleaded guilty in Hennepin County to attempted theft.

Why does this family sound so familiar to me? Is it because it sounds so much like the Grund family involved in the Caylee Anthony case, or have we read about this family on WS before?

A former Minneapolis pastor convicted of murdering a popular North High School staffer in what prosecutors said was a jealous rage was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Derrick Trevor Griffin, 41, was sentenced Friday for his convictions last month on charges of first-degree premeditated murder and first-degree murder in the May 2011 drive-by shooting of Kristopher Miller.
