Police seek help in capturing bank robber

Last Updated: May 27, 2011 02:28AM

As the deadline to charge one of the most prolific serial bank robbers in Chicago area history approaches, police again are asking for help in identifying the man who robbed a number of area banks including one in Naperville.

<snip>

The statute of limitations on bank robbery, which is a federal felony offense, is just five years. Given that the last robbery the Wheaton Bandit is suspected of committing was on Dec. 7, 2006, at the Glen Ellyn Bank and Trust, he must be identified and charged by Dec. 7 of this year.
Anyone with information on the bandit should call the FBI at 312-421-6700.

In my neck of the woods AND the same age-ish! I can't really see the picture too well though :(

ETA this guy for sure has facebook, right age, probably has a big ol pic pasted on there too. Wish we had some kind of an idea on where to start looking.

This is from wikipedia so take from it what you will

"Local law enforcement are now starting to think he has military training because of how he conducts the robberies. His trigger finger is usually along the side of the gun, not on the trigger, as a safety precaution. Authorities also think he wears a bulletproof vest from the outlines on his jackets.

His only mistake was when he (the Wheaton Bandit) thought a bystander was someone he knew. He stopped to talk to this bystander, unmasked. He then realized that he didn't know this person and drove off; from that interaction the police drew a composite sketch of the suspect."

THIS PART IS IMPORTANT
it looks like the video image of the guy without mask on is believed to be him. The flier just states he is a person of interest but read this:

"More recently, a bank surveillance photo of a person of interest was discovered. This individual, who investigators would like to identify, entered the Mid America Bank branch in Glen Ellyn in late December of 2004. He was not a customer of the bank and was never seen again by bank employees. However, the bank was robbed by the “Wheaton Bandit” a couple weeks later and this individual appears to fit the known physical description of the robber. As such, anyone recognizing this individual, who is depicted on the seeking information flyer below, is asked to call the FBI at (312) 421-6700."
