Investigators in Connecticut were working to identify the decomposed body of a woman found dumped in a shallow grave near a private PGA golf course.

A man walking his dog made the grisly discovery on Monday morning in a remote sand pit in Rocky Hill, Conn., just north of the Tournament Players Club at River Highland golf course.

An autopsy on Tuesday determined that it was the body of a white woman, about 5-foot-5 inches tall, but the medical examiner didn't know who she is or how she died.

Cops initially said the remains were so rotted that they couldn't tell whether it was a man, woman or child.

Rocky Hill Police Lt. Robert Catania said the body "had been buried for some time

Carrie Ann Monroe was last seen in Jan 2010 less than 10 miles from the golf course.

She is listed at 5'1" to 5'3" (i.e., a couple inches shorter than the 5'5" height estimate for the UID).

Here's another article indicating the height estimate:

It seems that if the person who found the remains mistook her hand for a glove, she couldn't have been there more than a few months. Otherwise, one would think the remains would have been fully skeletonized (and not mistaken for a glove).

Keep in mind, though, that although the missing date may be a while ago, the person may not be deceased until recently. She could have been kidnapped, or missing because of getting into a lifestyle that took her away from family and friends (drugs, prostitution, etc). I think that factor keeps a lot of people from being identified-- the missing date seems too far off, or the place too far away...

I say this because my cousin was a 'run-away' for many years. She was from SoCA, but actually rambled all over AZ, NV, NoCA, OR, WA... then one time she up and called my uncle-- she was in New Jersey!! We had NO clue that she had ever even considered leaving the west... but she was in with this group of "friends" who did lord-knows what. (Sadly, those "friends" were nowhere around when she was in hospice and died of AIDS :( But, that's why I continue to look all over the country and expanded time-frames... Sorry for the OT
