Unidentified White Male

The victim was discovered on April 07, 1992 at 231 Enterprise Drive, Newport News Virginia. Near complete or complete skeleton (sun dried and bleached).

Vital Statistics

Estimated age: 35-50 years old
Approximate Height and Weight: Unknown
Dentals: Available
Clothing: Light colored, front button, short sleeve shirt; light colored boxer shorts. Found near the skeletal remains were a pair of "Jordache" blue jeans. Black and white, size 7 1/2 tennis shoe
DNA: Sample available - Not yet submitted

Case History
A maintenance worker observed the skeletal remains adjacent to a warehouse on Enterprise Drive.

Did LE estimate how long she had been there? Cause of death?

Neither the PM interval, nor COD was indicated in NamUs. But the "sun bleached" condition of the bones would suggest that they had been there for a considerable length of time (i.e., over a year). But since her clothing was still there, I wouldn't think that she was there for more than 5-10 years.

the bust is helpful but there is so little information to go on. no height, hair color or estimated date of death.

dentals are tough with the post-mortem losses but that's about all we have to work with.

sad.

sad.

She was missing quite a few teeth antemortem, so I suspect that she was a vagrant or drug user.

Wow! Rhonda looks pretty similar to the reconstruction. Good Work, Irish Eyes!

The UID's profile now says "Samples submitted-tests not complete" regarding DNA. So we're one step closer to having another identifier. She and Rhonda do look a lot alike.

Vital Statistics
Date Of Birth: July 1953
Age at Time of Disappearance: 37 years old
Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Dark hair.
Anita Gunn has been missing since August 31, 1990. She last spoke to her sister by phone around 20.00 that day.
Gunn told her sister she had just finished having dinner with her estranged husband and they were going to his home to work out their marital problems.

Right age
Right place (78 miles away)
Right time
and the reconstruction looks pretty good too.
Shame there is no information on Anita's dentals but...

I will submit this one.

Confirmed this is NOT Anita Gunn

and the details have changed from female to male!

Carl can you update the initial post?

this one is going to be fun. I wonder why they thought this was a female? height? only 5'5". size 7 1/2 sneakers??

the UID was wearing boxer shorts and while I know some women wear 100% cotton boxers for a particular reason, most wearers of boxers are men.

a bigger question for me is that they say a pair of Jordache jeans were found near the remains and that he was only wearing the boxers along with a shirt. I wonder why the guy was in a partial state of undress? does anyone know if this particular area was a place where guys went for some casual anonymous activities?

The boxers make more sense now.

7 1/2 shoe is small for a man, so it's likely he would be of slight build.

My first thought when I read your post was to wonder if this isn't tied to Elton Manning Jackson. He operated around the Portsmouth Va. area during that time.

Just checked a little further and the age range of the UID seems to fit the age of the victim he was convicted of murdering. Also the site where the UID was found is within a mile of interstate 64.Proximity to the IS also being part of Jacksons MO.

It turns out that this is not a woman, it was a man. Dippy pointed it out earlier, but I didn't notice.

The third person found in Newport News was originally thought to be a woman, but DNA testing since revealed it was a man, Bush said. A new model was made and unveiled as one of the four revealed on Thursday at the Norfolk Health Department.

In that case, authorities recovered skeletal remains of a man 35 to 50 years old next to a warehouse at 231 Enterprise Drive in the northern part of Newport News on April 7, 1992, Altman said.

isn't Flowers a tad too tall for this UID? last we knew the deceased was about 5'5" and Flowers was said to be 6'1".
