The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a missing persons case along with the Worthington, MN Police Department. The sheriff’s office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the individual.

On Monday, June 27, 2011, it is believed that the missing person, Lucia Chilel Perez, age 41, of Worthington, MN was in the Sioux County area searching for employment. Lucia is described as a Hispanic female approximately 5’2”, 140 pounds, with long black hair. She was traveling with a man by the name of Bernardo Ramirez‐Perez, who is described as a short, dark skinned Hispanic male, with a full beard and long hair; he is approximately 35 to 40 years old.
The family and friends of Lucia have not heard from her since Monday.

Ramirez‐Perez is considered to be a person of interest; he has since fled the area and in an attempt to evade law enforcement authorities.

Authorities concentrating search efforts in northwest Iowa

WORTHINGTON — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman who reportedly left Worthington June 27 to go job hunting and hasn’t been seen since.

Gone Cold: Missing Worthington woman may have been in Lake Park

More than four years have passed since phones rang at the Lake Park Police Department and local authorities joined the search for a missing Worthington, Minnesota woman.

Investigators are still looking for fresh leads to find 41-year-old Lucia Chilel Perez. She may have been in Lake Park searching for a job June 27, 2011.

Authorities say she also may have traveled to Rock Valley with a friend on the same day. The car they were traveling in, a maroon Buick Century, was eventually located in Worthington.

Lucia was last seen in Worthington, Minnesota in late June 2011. She has never been heard from again. She left with Bernardino Ramirez-Perez, who is also known as Jose Rafael Santiago Torres and Omar Merero Torres; a photo of him is posted with this case summary.

They were stopping at various businesses and applying for jobs. They may have traveled to Rock Valley, Iowa, driving Bernardino's maroon Buick Century. A photo of the vehicle are posted below this case summary. Lucia might have been seen on June 27, but this hasn't been confirmed.

Lucia has never been heard from again. Authorities believe she could be in danger, as Bernardino has an extensive criminal history and a record of sexual and physical violence.

When Bernardino returned to Worthington on June 26, he had a large scratch on his face and he said Lucia had been detained in Hull, Iowa due to an immigration problem, a story which turned out to be untrue. Authorities processed his vehicle but couldn't find any evidence pertaining to Lucia's disappearance.

She left behind an adult son and two young children. Her case remains unsolved.

Authorities processed his vehicle but couldn't find any evidence pertaining to Lucia's disappearance.

At the time of her disappearance, he had warrants out for his arrest for domestic violence and for sexual assault and kidnapping. He left town shortly after the onset of the investigation into Lucia's case and authorities don't know his current whereabouts. Due to the lack of evidence, he's only considered a person of interest in her case, not a suspect.

Lucia left behind an adult son and two young children. Her case remains unsolved.
