several other things pointed about about the 911 call. she was fading in and out like she was running around still cleaning the crime scene and i think that everyone agrees with that.

also, she mentions her finger prints will be on the knife because she picked it up. to me this is a la patsy ramsey and the ransom note that she was supposedly reading across the room and over john's shoulder and scott peterson asking for grief counseling the first night laci has "disappeared".

if my children laid there dying the last thing i would do would be pick up the frigging knife. i would be frantic to get 911 and IF i did move the knife i would not remember doing it, it would certainly be in a fog, but here she was reporting it to the 911 operator!!! even at that point her priorities were not with her children.....hum, wonder why. :waitasec:

My favorite part of the 911 tape is when she's questioned about it in open court. She actually tells the prosecutor and JURY that she never said she was "fighting," she wants them to believe she said she was "frightening." While I'm pretty sure that the one boy who actually saw who his murderer was throught she was pretty freaking "FRIGHTENING," I have some serious doubts that she said that to the 911 operator.

LOL, yeah, she's pretty frightening looking if you ask me. She actually says "fighting him" but she says it with that Texas accent "fightin im" like she says to the 911 operator "yes m" for "ma'am" several times.

Who spends all that time on a 911 call when your children are dying in front of you? And all that protesting "I don't even know who did it Darin" "we gotta find out who did this Darin." I hear guilt all over that call. She sounds more angry than shocked and confused to me anyway.

And she sets up it right away, imo. "someone came in, they've broken in" and not "send help, my children are dying"

I can't see it either. Even if the operator tells her to NOT hang up, well she's on a cordless phone, so there's nothing stopping her from attending to her sons' wounds while she holds the phone to her ear. Of course, we've had this conversation before. Try to hold the phone on one ear while you're holding a towel up to your own wounds and that doesn't leave any free hands to tend to your bleeding, dying children. Which, if you're the one who got them that way, works out just fine!!!

Yeah, LOL, how does it leave you free hands to wet towels. I don't know about you but those cordless phones are almost impossible to hold beneath the chin, I find anyway. Maybe my double, or triple chins are in the way, LOL.

anyway, you don't, you throw that phone and you hold and comfort your dying son to you. They would have had to pry him out of my arms.

Exactly how I feel about it. She should have had blood all over her.

That's as far as I have done with the 911 call that I can remember right off hand. I will have another listen and see what else I heard. I don't have a transcript made. I have it burned to a cd so it's a bit easier to hear. I know that Camilla has gone further so hopefully if she gets here she can add to mine.

I've read this through once before and I just skimmed it now. However, I just want to point out that Darlie does NOT volunteer the info about picking up the knife until the 911 operator tells her not to touch it. She says there is a knife to the police when they arrive. Then the 911 operator says "There's a knife? Don't touch it." THEN Darlie says "But I already picked it up." Or something to this effect.

I've never understood why this is pointed out by supporters as Darlie being prompted by the 911 operator. Are you saying the operator put words in her mouth. I just don't understand how and why this matters as regards Darlie's innocence or guilt. I'm dense I guess or maybe you can explain it to me. Darlie is the first one to mention the knife on the call, not the operator.

Yes, she says " I already touched it and picked it up." Later in ther call, she says "we could have gotten the prints, maybe." So Darlie was definitely aware of what story the knife might tell. MOO

This is the part I'm referring to. yes, Darlie brings up the knife. But the 911 operator then tells her not to touch anything. Then Darlie says I already touched it and picked it up. This is in response to the 911 operator telling her not to touch anything.

As I said, I've just skimed this and I don't think that this is the entire call.

I don't know that I'm saying anything different than you are saying, just that I am interpreting it diferently. Where is the part about the fingerprints? I seem to have missed that part. I need to read it again to see what you are talking about Cami.

Yes, okay but how are you interpreting it is what I want to know. I am not trying to be difficult, I just have a problem with reasoning power sometimes so I have to have things explained to me, LOL. I misunderstood, I thought you were somehow attaching blame to the 911 operator for Darlie's words. I see nothing sinister in this and I wonder how much weight the jury gave it because when you look at the whole picture, it's pretty low on the totem pole as evidence against Darlie, imoo.

Here's the transcript where she refers to the prints.

05:00:22 Darlie Routier ...what ...what...
05:01:15 911 Operator #1 ...need to let the police officers in the front door...
05:04:21 Darlie Routier ...(unintelligible) his knife was lying over there and I already picked it up...
05:08:19 911 Operator #1 ...ok ...it's alright ...it's ok...
05:09:20 Darlie Routier ...God ...I bet if we could have gotten the prints maybe ...maybe...
05:13:18 Police Officer ...(unintelligible)...

Little did Darlie know that the knife handle was not conducive for prints.

Okay, I think I see the problem. No, I was not attaching blame to the 911 operator for Darlie's words. I was saying that it is possible that Darlie would not have said anything about picking up the knife if the 911 operator had not just told her not to pick it up.

As for the part about prints on the knife, it is the sort of thing I would think of. But then, I'm obsessed with this sort of thing. I'm not a "typical suburban housewife". Having, Thank God, never been in a situation such as this or even remotely close (I've never had to dial 911 for any reason), I can't say how I would react. I don't know what would be going through my mind or what would pop out of my mouth. I do know that I have been known to say some pretty dumb things on occasion that I later thought about how it must have been taken by the person to whom I was speaking and wished I'd never said it.

Anyhow, back to darlie. It seems to me that one major issue occurring to her during the call to 911 was "WHO" was responsible. She is saying over and over that she doesn't know who do did it, she wants to find out who did it. Now this may be because she was laying the seeds of suspicion on the non-existent intruder. But it could also be because that was truly what she was thinking about at the time. Darin was caring for the boys. She called for help and was standing there bleeding and in shock (if she is a victim, I'm assuming she was suffering from shock after the attack on her children and herself). It is possible, IMO, that she got stuck on that one thought, "who did this, we've got to find him and punish him" and couldn't think about anything else.

Other people have said that the fact that she was not on the floor, holding her children is indicative of guilt or at least of a lack of emotion to them being dead. That if this had been them, the paramedics would have had to pry the child's lifeless body from their arms. I submit that unless you have been there, you don't know what you would have done. NO ONE can predict how they will truly act in a crisis unless you've prepared for that crisis. Taht is why we have fire drills and such, so we know what to do in case of that emergency. But if you are prepared for your child to be murdered and make sure you act just like you think a grieving parent should, I think that that shows a lot more guilt than just acting naturally.

That last bit didn't make a whole lot of sense did it? Sorry about that, but I'm oging to let it stand just in case someone can decipher the point I was trying to make there.

PS. I'm enjoying these discussions everyone. I seem to be the only one on the side of innocence, so I can see I have my work cut out for me!!! But I love friendly arguments.

Okay now I see. It is the operator's job to advise her not to touch anything as it's a crime scene.

I enjoy the discussions too. When I first heard of this case, I too believed in Darlie's innocence but one thing struck me as odd and that was her story. It just didn't make sense that a stranger would enter that home and brutally kill those two boys and not her. Once I started to learn more, though I had to find her guilty. All the evidence points to her.

What I find interesting about the 911 call is what she DOESN'T say:
She never says:

My throat is cut.
I'm bleeding.
My arms are hurt.
He tried to rape me (since her panties were "missing").
I love you (to the kid who was still alive).

SO, IN THE SPAN OF SECONDS, SHE GOES FROM MORE THAN ONE INTRUDER TO TWO INTRUDERS??????

Actually, in her FIRST sentence to 911 she referenced "singular" and "plural"-I find this a common speech pattern when people talk about unknown person(s)-I don't believe this means anything.

I also find her comments, answers very common to other 911 tragedy phone calls that I've heard where the caller is innocent. I don't think the 911 call implicates her, if anything I think it goes the other way.

I can see that you and I are on the same page here. Being a mother of three myself, I can tell you that as long as I live no one will ever be able to convince me that if my children were lying dying in front of me that there's a chance in hell I'd just stand there and watch. HOW ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH DID SHE NOT HOLD THEM AND GIVE THEM A SLIVER OF COMFORT?????? She knew they were dying. We heard her say that on the 911 call. They were hurt, they were in shock. They saw their mother coming after them with that butcher knife. That thought makes my blood run cold. She had no tears for them that night, she had no tears for them during that farce she called a birthday party and I'll shed no tears for her when the State of Texas takes her life.

Here is my question..If either parent were involved in this why call for help why one of the children is still alive and could say who hurt him? I would think you would wait until you knew they were both dead before calling for help.
