PHOTOS RELEASED OF VEHICLES LINKED TO MISSING WOMAN

Mandy Ciehanoski, 33, was reported missing by family members on Feb. 14. However, she hasn’t been seen since about a week before then. Last month, the Sheriff’s Office’s Major Case Unit declared the case a homicide and arrested a former boyfriend of the missing woman for impeding the investigation. Investigators consider Michael Annicchiarico a person of interest in the disappearance of Ciehanoski, but have found no trace of the missing woman. Charged with making a false report to law enforcement, providing false information to law enforcement during an investigation, grand theft and forgery, Annicchiarico remains in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach on $11,500 bond.

The homicide investigation took a turn earlier this year, when Annicchiarico traded in his father's car, authorities have said.

The car linked Ciehanoski to Annicchiarico when her hair and blood were found in the trunk.

Ciehanoski's blood and DNA were discovered on items taken from Annicchiarico's trash container at the home he shares with his mother, records show.

Families fear waning attention in search of missing loved ones

Mandy Ciehanoski has been missing since Feb. 7, 2011. A truck she was driving was found abandoned at a park on Fleming Avenue in Ormond Beach.

A Volusia County grand jury indicted the woman's ex-boyfriend Michael Annicchiarico with first-degree murder. Investigators have used dive teams and cadaver dogs to search more than a dozen locations, but the body of the single mother has not been found. Ciehanoski's hair and blood was found in the suspect's trash.

The woman's mother, Debbie Ciehanoski, said she still has hope her daughter's body will turn up. She can only rely on the word of investigators who say they are actively searching for her.

But she admits the wait frustrates her.

"It's a miserable feeling," she said.

Michael Annicchiarico, originally charged with first-degree murder, on Monday made a deal with prosecutors and pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in the slaying of his girlfriend, Mandy Ciehanoski.

A search for her remains, which started Monday and will continue today, is a key part of the deal.

If the bones are found, Annicchiarico could serve 15 to 50 years in prison. But if Ciehanoski's remains are not found, Annicchiarico, 36, could face a life sentence.

VOLUSIA, Fla. —A judge sentenced a killer to life in prison for the murder of his ex-girlfriend on Friday in Volusia County even though her body has never been found. Michael Annicchiarico pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and was to get a lighter sentence if he led investigators to the victim's body.

"Your honor, I beg of you, beg of you to please give this man life without the chance of parole," Debbie Ciehanoski said in court Friday.
