It was so weird today. I passed the gas station on my way to work as I always do and the gas station was packed with cars. Normally I get gas there because it is never busy. There were only 2 people getting gas when I passed by today, but the rest of the parking spots were filled. I'm sure people were inside trying to get information. Also, I found it weird that the dumpster did not appear to be roped off or anything. There was a van parked near it so maybe they tried to have it blocked off.

I just got this email at work

What KSDK confirmed was that a gentleman at the ballgame last night reported a strange man requesting to borrow his cell phone. He let the man borrow the phone, and he was on it for about 20 minutes. The witness claimed the borrower was acting shady so he called the authorities. When shown a photo of Sheley, he said that was the guy… It is STRONGLY believed by the newscrew that this guy was in front of the stadium last night. A vehicle matching the description of the one taken from
Festus, was found last night on Cherokee street (address withheld at this time). blood was found in the vehicle matching that of the victims.

PLEASE! PLEASE!!! Be careful when going anywhere over the next few days, or weeks until this guy is captured.

To all officers:

There is possibly a serial killer in our area. He has killed 8 people in the last few days, two of those being a couple in Festus that the Major Case Squad is currently investigating. We do not know what he is driving at this time, however, he was spotted at Busch Stadium during a ball game last night and a truck he had stolen during the Festus murders was recovered in St. Louis City as well. Further information will be forthcoming in an Intelligence Bulletin. He has bludgeoned all of his victims so far, HOWEVER, he may now be armed with a 9mm pistol that he took from the couple in Festus. He may be back in route to the Chicago area, but that is unknown at this time. He has stated to his ex-wife that he has more killing to do. He is a meth addict and extremely dangerous. Use extreme caution if encountered.

Nicholas Seley W/M DOB: 7/31/1979 5'10' 150 lbs.

A girl I work with said her friend's relatives got abducted and there was blood found in their car.
We believe they may be the victims in the article :(

Captain of the major case squad is doing a live news briefing right now. Apparently there was a huge piece of evidence found in the dumpster but they won't say what. He says the crime was extremely brutal and Sheley is considered very dangerous. Crime was random. There have been a significant amount of leads that he has been spotted in St Louis.

ROCK FALLS, Ill. — Police issued a murder warrant in one of eight Midwest killings that may be connected to the same person of interest who is the focus of a massive manhunt.
Authorities said Tuesday that an intense search is under way for 28-year-old Nicholas Troy Sheley.
They've obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery and vehicular hijacking in the death of Ronald Randall, who was beaten to death and left behind a Galesburg, Ill., grocery store Monday.
Authorities said Tuesday that there was "evidence at each of these scenes" linking Sheley to the crimes.

snipped...
Public records show he has a lengthy criminal record, including multiple convictions for robbery, drug and weapons charges.
Sheley is described as a white male, 28 years of age, 511, approximately 165 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. He has tattoos on his arms, chest, and shoulders. He has a criminal history of armed violence and resisting arrest.

A timeline of events leading to Tuesday's search for Nicholas T. Sheley, a 28-year-old convicted felon police say may be connected to a string of eight recent killings in Illinois and Missouri. Sheley has not been charged in any of the deaths. Police are calling him a person of interest.

Joe Sheley says his nephew is the father of four children and that he's had dustups with the law before, including for home invasion.
Joe Sheley says his nephew has a drug problem, but he says killing would be completely out of character for him. The uncle says Nicholas Sheley has a temper but doesn't go looking for a fight or trouble.

I live here in Rockfalls. Everyone is scared he is suspected of killing 8 people now. The police have recieved a million tips here. I was one of those tips. They have no idea where he is. He killed a 93 yr old man and stuffed him in his trunk. He also killed 3 other adults and a 2 year old. Suspected of killing a man in geneseo, and the two in Missouri.

He has been put on AMW front page on their website, and FBI are thinking of adding him to the top 10 most wanted which will list him up there with Osama.

The surrounding area isn't even letting there kids play outside anymore. It is really scary!

I've been following this scary story since I have friends in St. Louis who were at Busch Stadium last night! I just got this alert from the Chicago Tribune:

The got him! Thank God! More at link.

Knox County filed for the death penalty for Sheley.

My prayers and thoughts are with the victims families.

Not to bring too much attention to the murderer as the focus should be on the victims and their families this guy's wife has a Myspace and it is not private. Among her wedding pictures this lady has this guy's mughsots up. She has a R.I.P section for him. Thankfully I don't have to understand why a person would do that. I mean you can take your kids to visit this guy in prison. You can write a letter he will answer. These poor victim's didn't get that chance. Their families will never again get to speak to their loved ones.

Sorry for the rant, but that just sets me off. I am not judging the woman as that is a huge part of her Myspace. I just can't fathom how you'd post a murderer's mugshots when it's your husband that murdered innocent people.

Family and friends are shocked by the murder of a Sherwood couple, found dead outside a Festus, Missouri gas station. The FBI is conducting a manhunt for a suspect in their murders.

Jill Estes worked for 18 years as a classroom aid for special education students. Tom Estes was a railroad employee near retirement. The classroom where Jill Estes worked as a teacher's aid is covered to protect it from the dust of summer. In here she tended to 10 special-ed students, but she was known by all the students at Tolleson Elementary simply as Miss Jill.

Rest in Peace Jill and Tom.

KSDK -- An Illinois man accused of murdering eight people during a crime spree in late June has been charged in Missouri.

Jefferson County prosecutor Forrest Wegge has charged 28-year-old Nicholas Sheley with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action. Sheley's alleged crime spree covered two states and eight murders: six in Illinois and two in Missouri. Among the victims: a two-year-old boy and a 93-year-old man.

Sheley was arrested in a Granite City, Illinois bar July 1.

On June 30, Tom and Jill Estes, a couple from Arkansas, were found beaten behind a Festus gas station; they died from their injuries.

This is the same suspect, but the article is about the other people he murdered in Illinois. Apparently they are dropping the death penalty in Illinois (was abolished). Missouri can still prosecute him and ask for the death penalty in the Estes cases though.

Prosecutors in the case of an Illinois man suspected of killing eight people in two states have said they will no longer seek the death penalty.

WGIL-AM in Galesburg reports state's attorney John Pepmeyer filed a motion Tuesday to decertify the case against Nicholas Sheley. The filing comes after Gov. Pat Quinn signed legislation earlier this month banning the death penalty in Illinois.

Nicholas Sheley is charged with killing eight people in Illinois and Missouri in 2008. He has pleaded not guilty in the death of 65-year-old Ronald Randall of Galesburg. The trial is set for next year.

On Friday, the defense and prosecution agreed to give both sides more time for the disclosure of their arguments. The deadline was June 30.

Now Sheley's defense team has until Sept. 15 and the Knox County state's attorney's office has a July 15 deadline.

Sheley is serving a sentence after being convicted last year of attacking workers at the Knox County Jail while awaiting trial.

I didn't see a trial thread on this so I thought I'd post it. This case is just completely unbelievable as far as how brutal this guy was. He did not care who he killed as his victims included a 90 year old man and a 2 year old boy.

He has requested to fire his attorneys and defend himself btw.

This article will bring you completely up to date for the most part.
