The strangeness of this story is evident by the comments already posted - what do you think? The son with a GSW to the shoulder while the parents with fatal head wounds in their beds.

Son shot in shoulder first, he runs upstairs so that his parents know to call for help because son was shot, then the shooter sneaks upstairs and kills mother and father, while son was .. well, what was son doing? Why wasn't he executed too, at that point?

We'll see how this one turns out. And how quickly.

Here's an MSNBC article....

"Police say the Jaggarnauths called 911 around 4 a.m. yesterday to report their younger son, Shane Jaggarnauth, 23, had been shot in the shoulder. Then they were killed."

"The younger Jaggarnauth was in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital Friday evening. Police believe he was shot first, as he stepped outside to walk the family dog. Then the killer crept up the stairs and executed his parents."

Also being questioned is Shawn Jaggarnauth aged 30. Criminal record as well.

Hours after the murders, the couple's older son, Shawn Jaggarnauth arrived at the crime scene. He broke down in tears.

"My family was shot," he cried. "My parents were killed. I can't believe this. This is crazy."

The older son has eight arrests dating back to 1996, including a November 2010 bust for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine pills. He was also arrested in November 2008 for carrying two bags of crack.

8 arrests? Sorry.. I'd flip out if my son ever got ONE,,, I dunno.

Not to mention those weapon charges. At Blondie's link it says that brother is shown in surveilance video eating at the time of the murders with his girlfriend at a diner. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Crack and meth! Not good.

Right? Why didn't the dog bark? He77 why didn't the dog fend for his master who just got shot? Especially a "cranky" dog. Whatever that means.

A pit bull who let an intruder slip upstairs to murder two people execution style? Not believing that for a moment! A son who is hit in the shoulder, goes upstairs to tell his parents he's been shot, then they are killed and he's in stable condition at the hospital. Why didn't the killer finish him off? A second, older son with an arrest record, who (conveniently) isn't at home at the time. No wonder LE is "looking at the family".

Sometimes in cases like these, where our WSing knowledge and experience points to a foregone conclusion, it feels like watching a train wreck in slow motion. It is saddening that these good people had their lives taken by violence, and it is maddening that it is very likely that the person responsible was someone very close to them.

A Queens Village man was sentenced to life in prison with no hope of parole Tuesday for the September 2011 murder of his parents as they slept.
