All they know for certain is that Marble Arvidson was at his home on the afternoon of Aug. 27.
One of the four members of the household saw Marble in the afternoon. Another heard someone knock at the door and Marble conversing with a man whose voice was not recognized.
Marble left a note saying he was going out and would be back in about 20 minutes. He marked it with the time — 2:17 p.m.
He never returned.
“We don’t know if he left in a car, went walking — nobody knows but the person who knocked on the door, and we haven’t been able to identify who that person is,” Kittredge said.

Julie Cunningham, executive director of Families First, said she's known Arvidson for 11 years and served as his case manager with Families First ever since. http://www.reformer.com/ci_18792770?source=most_viewed

The Brattleboro Reformer reports that Arvidson, a Brattleboro Union High School student who was living with two mentors, hasn't been seen since. His case manager at Families First, a human services agency, says she's afraid something might have happened to Arvidson since Tropical Storm Irene hit. She says he's a high-functioning boy . . . http://www.wcax.com/story/15363277/17-year-old-vermont-boy-missing-since-saturday
BBM, just to make the terms stand out.

I wonder what "high functioning boy" is supposed to mean? Does it mean he functions better than an average teenager or does it mean he functions very well considering some situation of which we're unaware. He seems to be in foster care of some kind, as they mention "mentors" with whom he lives. His grandfather describes himself as a "mentor" of Marble (at http://www.commonsnews.org/site/site04/story.php?articleno=4068&page=2) but the grandfather doesn't live in West Brattleboro.

Marble's living situation might be somewhat complicated -- IMO it makes it less likely that he got lost in a storm or kidnapped by a stranger.

There may be a press conference on Marble's case on Tuesday at 2:00 pm E.T. I can't confirm that -- saw it on an unreliable web page and nowhere else so far. It is very hard to get info on this case as the facebook pages either have no info or have gone private and will only accept friend requests from people who actually knew Marble, the Twitter account hasn't been updated in 5 days, and I can't find links to the web site set up about him (except in summer_breeze's link below.) In the comment section to an article in the local paper, someone asked how they could help with the search and got the curt answer "The information is in the sidebar to the article." There's no sidebar about Marble, at least not anymore.
Perhaps the family has a strategy or perhaps they need some help in figuring out how to make it most likely that someone will find him. I've never seen a case where so many web resources have been set up with so few of them offering any outreach to the public for help.

Press conference for Marble's case. His aunt, mom, close family friend, and detective speak. It sounds like there's only one press member there, and that person knows little about the case (or is acting as if he knows little so that he can ask all the relevant questions.) The reward and upcoming search information are announced.

Possibly, the close friend (who stands up with a woman who seems to be his wife) are the people with whom Marble lived -- but that is not specifically stated. He is very sure that someone locally has information about what has happened to Marble. The family does not answer questions about Marble's living situation, because they don't feel it is relevant or helpful at this time. Hearing Marble's mom is heartbreaking.

I'm very hopeful that Marble will be found safe -- though I've been disappointed before. Often a young man goes missing, not because he's running away from anything but because he's going off to do something that he doesn't want to have to explain to everybody or get permission for.
