He isn’t exactly getting away with murder, but some might say Harold Ordway is getting off relatively easily for someone who has confessed to killing two people. He has been given 20 to 50 years for 2nd degree murder, as part of a plea deal with Prosecutors.

They say in one case they don’t have a body, and in the other, the body was too badly decomposed to determine a cause of death.

Ordway told authorities that he strangled Van Buskirk, dumping his body in a farmer’s field near Vicksburg. It was eventually found but too badly decomposed to detect soft tissue damage. Ordway told detectives he had to kill Paul Atchley because he knew about the Van Buskirk killing. He shot him to death and buried his body in a shallow grave somewhere in southern Allegan or northern Van Buren County. It has never been found.
