An off-duty Cook County sheriff's correctional officer was dressed as an elderly woman, walking home from a Halloween costume party with three friends in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood, when the taunting started last weekend.

Four St. Rita High School students heckled Officer Gregory Blake about his costume. Then they attacked, police said.

"After one kid punched Greg in the face, Greg said, 'Leave us alone.' He told the kid, 'You just hit an off-duty officer,'" said Michael Beam, an off-duty Chicago firefighter who was with Blake. "The kid said, 'I don't give a damn. My dad is a police officer.' "
