A helicopter manned by the Boone County Sheriff's Department will search Tuesday for more clues into the disappearance of Charles Dwayne Bell, 34, who went missing on Sept. 15.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Bell's whereabouts, according to a previous Missourian report. He was last seen at the intersection of Dripping Springs Road and Red Rock Road.

There are a lot of rumors as to what happened to Charlie and to the type of dealings he was involved with. I lived in Harrisburg for 7 yrs and live in Columbia now which is 14 miles from Harrisburg. His mother is very active in trying to find out his whereabouts. I'm in the construction/lumber business in central mo and there was a murder in 2011 in Harrisburg, rumors are that the murder and Charlie's disappearance are related. I have no proof of that.
"On August 16, 2011, Jon Spurling was murdered in Harrisburg Missouri. The murder is still unsolved,"
I'm not a computer guys , that was a copy of an article in the local paper several years ago.

A cold case is heating up again after police arrested two suspects Wednesday believed to be involved in the disappearance and murder of a Harrisburg area man three years ago...

The Sheriff's Department arrested Jennifer R. Freeman, 33, and Patrick L. Curl, 43, Wednesday evening on suspicion of tampering with physical evidence and hindering prosecution, according to the news release.

Freeman told police Monday that she and Curl were present at the scene of the crime and helped clean up the scene and dispose of Bell's body, Detective Tom O'Sullivan said.

Searchers were back at a Boone County pond today looking for leads in the homicide investigation of Charlie Bell, Jr...

Deputies are searching in a drained pond near Harrisburg for Bell’s body or any evidence related to his murder. Searchers were knee-deep in mud and used metal detectors. Detectives are not saying whether they found anything significant.

Boone County Sheriff’s Detective Tom O’Sullivan said, “We’re continuing to follow up on information that we’ve received interviewing people. There’s still a lot of work to do.”

Sheriff’s department investigators obtained a search warrant for Bell’s former home in the 11200 block of North Route E near Harrisburg. Seven swabs of apparent blood were taken from the garage to be tested for Bell’s DNA, according to an affidavit filed when the warrant was returned to the court.

Deputies also drained and searched a pond in early August near the intersection of routes J and EE to look for evidence. Detective Tom O’Sullivan said last week that the department wrapped up its search there after three weeks of scouring the area and found several items that were sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab. Bell’s body was not found at the pond, O’Sullivan said.

It will be 3 years tomorrow that Charlie disappeared.

Detectives suspect foul play in the disappearance of Charlie Bell, but haven't found definitive evidence to prove that he's dead.

Boone County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Merilee Crockett on Tuesday said that Bell's family has been "long-suffering" with his disappearance and urges anyone with information to come forward.

"We still continue to need information, and we will continue to follow up on any information," Crockett said.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department investigation in the case has been "labor-intensive," said detective Tom O'Sullivan. He said deputies drained and searched a pond in an effort to find Bell and searched his home whenever he was reported missing.

COLUMBIA - Boone County Circuit Judge Kevin Crane sentenced Patrick Curl to three years in prison for his connection to the 2011 disappearance and homicide of Charles Bell Monday. Curl confessed to hiding evidence from police investigators during his trial on June 8th.

Curl confessed he intentionally withheld the location of Bell's motorcycle license plates from police. At the trial Curl denied any personal involvement with Bell's disappearance, but he said he did know that Bell was missing when he hid the license plates.

While two people have been charged in connection with Bell’s disappearance, the person who killed him, if he is indeed dead, has not been arrested or charged. The case saw new life in July when Jennifer R. Freeman told Boone County Sheriff’s Department investigators that she and Patrick L. Curl saw another person kill Bell in the garage of Bell’s home on Route E near Harrisburg. She and Curl then helped clean up the scene and Curl helped get rid of Bell’s motorcycle, Freeman said.

Freeman’s next court date has not yet been set. Crockett declined to comment on specifics of either case because they are both pending.

I do not understand how this case is not solved by now .. Is this poor detective work?

Family of missing man files petition to establish presumption of death
On Sept. 15, 2011, Charlie D. Bell disappeared and has not been seen since.

"I just didn't understand and it took me a really long time to come to terms with it, that he was gone," said his mother, Doris Boyce. "I wished for a long, long time that he would come back."

Now on the fifth anniversary of his disappearance, his father, Charles E. Bell, has filed a petition for a hearing to establish the presumption of death and apply for letters of administration.
