ABC2 News spoke with Montgomery County Police early Thursday morning. They say 11-year-old William McQuain was last seen on September 30 in the 13100 block of Briar Cliff Road. Around 8:30pm Wednesday night, police found the little boy's mother, Jane McQuain, 51, dead inside her apartment in Briarcliff Terrace. Detectives are treating it as an apparent homicide after officers found trauma to her body.
Police say a friend of Jane McQuain 's told them he had not seen her and was worried about her safety. He called police and that's when officers showed up at McQuain's apartment Wednesday night. Police forced their way into the apartment and found the woman dead in her bedroom. Her 11-year-old son William McQuain was no where to be seen. That's what prompted Montgomery County Police to issue the Amber Alert just after midnight Thursday morning.

Last seen 2 weeks ago... that's a long time. Hopefully LE can glean solid clues from the crime scene. Poor little guy, I sure hope he's ok and didn't witness his mom being murdered.

you would think someone would have noticed him missing from school sooner???

I wonder how they know he was abducted by an unknown male suspect?

Absolutely tragic... I'm very worried for this little boy.

:praying:

so am I. Unless it is a parental abduction/murder it really doesn't look good

It was just on the local news here (Fox) a minute or two ago. They said that William was last seen around Sept 30, according to relatives, and that today they hope to find out more by talking to other people (I'm assuming the school/neighbors?).

Two weeks is a huge gap and gives the perp so much time. :(

Oh dear. This is very bad. William has been gone with an unidentified man (who may have murdered his mother) for 2 weeks. This is very scary. Prayers for William. I worry that mother was murdered to get William for nefarious reasons.

That poor precious little boy. He must be scared to death. I just hope whoever took him will let him go in a safe place. I hope and pray he wasn't taken for the wrong reasons. (You know what I mean.)

Praying for William..................

Starks said the police are not releasing any information on possible suspects, because detectives are trying to look at as many angles of the case as possible. Police are only saying that Jane McQuain had trauma to her body but are not elaborating on the severity or location of injuries. A preliminary report from a medical examiner could be finished by early afternoon.

Starks could not confirm whether anything else was taken from the home or whether there was forced entry, because of the ongoing investigation.
