Man pleads guilty in 30-year-old Leawood murder case
Gary Holcomb Sr., 50, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Philip Whitehead on April 2, 1981.
Under the plea agreement, he will be sentenced later to a prison term of 12 1/2 years to life, said Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe. He said the slaying was the first to occur in Leawood since the city was formed.
