1993 Case # 93A011113

Missing Person (Foul Play) – Jane McDonald Crone
November 12, 1993 – Decision Street, Roberts Cemetery Road, Magnolia, Texas
SYNOPSIS: Jane McDonald Crone was 35 years of age when she was
reported as Missing. Crone resided with her husband and children off
Nichols Sawmill Road in Magnolia (Hockley), Texas and she was
employed by Baker-Hughes in Houston, Texas. On November 12, 1993,
Crone reportedly visited the City Limits Club, Willie’s Night Life Club,
and Twigs Club in northwest Harris County. On November 15, 1993,
Crone’s husband reported her as a Missing Person.

On November 16, 1993, Crone’s blue 1982 Ford Mustang was found abandoned on Decision Street near the intersection of Roberts Cemetery Road in Harris County, Texas. A work crew in the area reported seeing the car
at this location on November 13, 1993, at about 7:00 am. Crone has not
been seen or heard from since. MCSO Cold Case Detectives recently
submitted DNA from family members to the Missing Persons /
Unidentified DNA database.

The vehicle was parked just three blocks from her residence in Magnolia. Her textbooks from North Harris County College, where she was attending classes, were inside the vehicle, but her purse and identification were not recovered. There were no signs of a struggle at the scene. Authorities believe that McDonald-Crone may have been taken against her will. Foul play is suspected in her case, which remains unsolved.

Some agencies may list the date McDonald-Crone's of disappearance as November 12, 1993, and Magnolia, Texas may be listed as the location.

Case Type: Endangered Missing
DOB: Aug 28, 1979
Sex: Female
Missing Date: Aug 17, 1997
Race: White
Age Now: 32
Height: 5'4" (163 cm)
Missing City: LA MARQUE
Weight: 140 lbs (64 kg)
Missing State : TX
Hair Color: Brown
Missing Country: United States
Eye Color: Blue
Case Number: NCMC836647
Circumstances: Jessica's photo is shown aged to 29 years. She was last seen by friends at a local restaurant on the evening of August 17, 1997.
Her vehicle was later found abandoned on the shoulder of I-45 South, near Highland Bayou Park, but Jessica's whereabouts are unknown.

Cain's truck was discovered locked and abandoned near the location her friend last saw her on Interstate 45 southbound at 5:00 a.m. that same day. Her wallet was on the driver's seat of the vehicle but her keys were missing. There was no sign of Cain at the scene and no damage to the truck, but the vehicle's camper appeared to have been tampered with.

Authorities are also searching for the driver of a mid-to-full-size white pickup truck who may have been a witness during the time Cain disappeared on the interstate. Witnesses reported seeing the car pursuing Cain's vehicle at a high rate of speed. The driver's truck is described as having a white toolbox mounted near the cab and a light bar with rotating yellow/orange lights. In addition, another possible witness is also being sought in connection with Cain's disappearance. He is described as an African-American male, approximately 25 to 32 years old with a short Afro-style haircut. The witness was driving a purple Dodge or Plymouth Neon at the time he may have seen Cain. Authorities believe the possible witness may be involved in the music industry.

A private investigator claimed that there was a possible link between Cain's disappearance and Jonathan David Drew. Drew was charged with the murder of Tina Michelle Flood in December 1998. He was employed as an automobile mechanic at the time Cain disappeared. The investigator said that Drew had access to a red Isuzu Amigo in August 1997. The Amigo was in the possession of a used car dealership where Drew occasionally worked. It is not known if Drew was the driver of the vehicle spotted behind Cain's truck on the day she disappeared. Cain's case is also being investigated along with the murders or disappearances of numerous other women from the Galveston County, Texas area since the 1970s. It is not known if any of the cases are connected to one another, but the Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI) and Texas law enforcement have formed Operation HALT (Homicide/Abduction Liason Team) to look into the possibilities. The disappearances of Sondra Ramber in 1983, Michelle Thomas in 1985 and Suzanne Richerson in 1988 are among the cases being investigated by Operation HALT.

Cain is described as a model teenager who had no enemies and would not run away from home. She had recently graduated from O'Connell High School and was due to start her freshman year at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas the week after her disappearance. She planned to major in criminology and drama. Cain's case remains unsolved.

Ashley Fuller Reed, 19 - Endangered Missing from Garland, Texas since January 14, 1990
(I know this isn't in the area of Galveston or Harris counties, but the disappearance and her physical attributes remind me of some of the I-45 victims - also, how they found her car so close to her home with no trace of her)

Age: 19 -- Height: 5'2" -- Weight: 115 lbs -- Hair Color: Brown -- Eye Color: Brown

Ashley's nickname is Ash. Her ears are pierced. She has a small brown-colored mole on her left cheek.

Ashley planned to meet two unknown men for dinner during the evening of January 14, 1990. She was supposed to meet the men, known only as Dave and Robert, at an IHOP in Dallas, Texas. Her car was found abandoned the next morning on the freeway ramp leading into her neighborhood, approximately 1/4 mile from the restaurant. Ashley has never been seen again. Foul play is suspected.

langwell_car.jpg

Langwell's 1994 Nissan Altima, found in Eckerd's Pharmacy parking lot with belongings inside

Name: Kimberly Ann Langwell
AKA: Kim Langwell, Kimberly Ann Clark
Case Number: M9908010
Case Type: Endangered - Foul Play Possible
Last Seen in: Beaumont (Jefferson County)
Last Seen on: 7/9/1999
Height: 5' 4 "
Weight: 135 lbs.
Age Missing: 34
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Blonde
Date of Birth: 2/14/1965
Race: White
Sex: Female
State Missing From: Texas
Country Missing From: USA
NCIC Number: M-9908010

Circumstances: Ms. Langwell has a scar under her chin, and a reddish purple birthmark on her mid to lower back. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. Ms. Langwell wears a Seiko watch with glowing numbers (silver in color), a silver necklace with a "Angel" medallion, silver hoop earrings, and a gold wedding band on her left hand. Her car was found parked and secure with personal items inside. She has made no attempt to contact her 15 year old daughter since the date of her disappearance. According to those who know Kimberly, this is highly unusual.

Langwell called her teenage daughter at about 5:30 in the afternoon of July 9, 1999 in their hometown of Beaumont, TX. Langwell reminded her about dinner plans they had for that evening and said she would return home at 6:30 p.m. after visiting a friend. Langwell's boyfriend began searching for her when she did not arrive at her residence later that night.

He discovered her silver 1994 Nissan Altima abandoned in the parking lot of the Eckerd Pharmacy at a shopping center on Dowlen Road and Phelan Boulevard or Phelan Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. A photograph of the vehicle is posted above this case summary. Langwell's purse and car keys were missing, but her cellular phone, cosmetics and other personal items were inside the car. There was no other sign of her at the scene and an extensive search of the area produced no clues as to her whereabouts. Langwell has never been heard from again.

Langwell's family members believe that she departed from the pharmacy with someone she trusted. They say it would be highly uncharacteristic of her not to make contact with her daughter for so long. Her loved ones believe Langwell's ex-boyfriend was responsible for her disappearance; the individual had reportedly threatened her and frightened her so badly that she told her sister where to look for her remains if she were to disappear. Foul play is suspected in Langwell's disappearance. She was employed at the Mobil Oil refinery in Beaumont in 1999.

Missing Woman: Tara Suzette Breckenridge--TX--08/04/1992
Gender: Female
DOB: 9/30/68
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 115-120 lbs.
Eyes:Brown
Hair: Brown
The Doe Network: Case File 603DFTX
Defining Characteristics: Has a small scar under the left side of her lower lip, a scar under her left arm, and a scar on her left side. She was known to keep her fingernails long and painted red. She wears contacts or glasses.
Clothing: She was wearing blue shorts, a light-colored top and sandals.
Jewelry: A Del Rio High School ring engraved with Class of 1981
Dentals: Her two upper front teeth are discolored in the middle.

The Men's Club in Houston, is an upscale adult night spot. Tara Breckenridge waited tables there from 1989 to 1992. Tara grew up in Del Rio, TX, and was the third of five children in a devoutly religious family. After high school, she arrived in Houston to pursue a career in photography. It wasn't long before the cost of big city living forced her to find another job. As a waitress at The Men's Club, Tara found the cash she needed.

In 1992, she vanished without a trace. The police and her parents believed Tara was murdered. And high on the list of possible suspects was Tara's boyfriend at the time, a young man named Wayne Hecker. Wayne and Tara had met two years after Tara arrived in Houston. Even though Tara never danced at The Men's Club, Wayne was less than thrilled with her job. Despite Wayne's concerns, he and Tara moved in together. At first, they seemed happy. But according to Tara's mother, Betty, the romance did not last.

Tara's job at The Men's Club distracted her from the problems with Wayne. But on the night of August 3, 1992, Tara did something that remains unexplained. It was a slow night and the management decided to send two waitresses home early. When the manager asked for volunteers to end their shift early, Tara volunteered to leave. According to Hal Naumann, the former manager of The Men's Club, it was strangely out of character, since she would usually stay until 2am, to make as much tip money as possible.

The security guard at the club told police that he walked Tara to her car and that she drove off without incident. Wayne Hecker later told the police that, at the moment Tara was leaving The Men's Club, he was in a pool hall fifteen minutes away. Wayne said he called Tara earlier that evening, but never spoke to her:
"I didn't really think anything at that time and they told me that she was on the floor. I probably got home around five and I expected to see Tara either lying on the sofa or in bed and she wasn't there. So at that point... I went to find her."

At 7:00 the next morning, Wayne found Tara's car abandoned on a busy freeway. According to Wayne, the car was locked and a can of mace was inside and the car's flashers weren't on.

Shelley Kathleen Sikes - Age 19, Caucasian, brunette, brown eyes. The University of Texas student who was home for the summer, was last seen just before midnight May 24, 1986. She left her summer job at Gaido's restaurant for her Texas City home but never made it. Sikes was 19 and on her way home from work on May 25, 1986, when John Robert King ran her off the road.

Her car was found on I-45's northbound feeder road, just north of the Causeway. In the deep mud just north of the Santa Fe overpass, the car was blood spattered and the driver's window smashed. Her body was never recovered, but Bayview resident John Robert King and El Lago resident Gerald Peter Zwarst later were convicted of aggravated kidnapping, the most severe charge prosecutors could pursue without a body, in the case.

Authorities got a break in the case in June 1987 when John Robert King telephoned El Paso police from a motel in that city to report his attempted suicide and confessed to kidnapping Sikes and burying her body.
King said he and a friend, Gerald Peter Zwarst had been high on drugs when they ran Sikes' car off the road and abducted her.

King later reneged on an offer to tell police where the body was buried. Both men have blamed each other for Sikes' death and admitted burying the body near King's home. King and Zwarst were convicted of aggravated kidnapping in 1988 and sentenced to life in prison. Zwarst was offered immunity from a murder charge in 1990 if he would help find Sikes' body. Under hypnosis he drew a map of a field in San Leon, where he said he last saw Sikes, but her body was not found.

Authorities uncovered a white blouse during the search. Lab tests could not prove it belonged to Sikes, but her family is convinced the petite, handmade blouse was hers. The case remains open.

Zwarst will next appear before the parole board in 2012. King is also up for parole, but the board has yet to rule on his case.

Thanks for posting the thread.
I am reading several of these now.
I wonder if the killer would be in these areas where the girls are.
Say a shopping center etc. He would abduct them by gun knife whatever and have her
drive her car somewhere close to where the killer had already parked his?
And then they leave in his vehicle and leaves hers there where it is found?

Of course some could be the girls being pulled over by what appears to be LE lights.
And is told her taillights are out. She gets out to look, and he takes her?

And then some just opportunity perhaps.
The killer drives by and sees a woman stranded do to being stuck or a flat whatever.
And offers to help and then abducts her from there?

All good theories. Could be 2 perps and could be a tow truck. I believe LE or a flashing light from a tow truck would get you to pull over.

I think it is probably a combination of all of the above. jmo
