SC - Fernando Rivas for sex abuse, child *advertiser censored*, Charleston, 2011

Can't believe no one has commented on this yet.

The man has not only victimized a toddler, he has besmirched something sacred for two generations of American children. Shame on you Mr. Rivas!!

From peeples link:

"....According to an affidavit obtained Tuesday, authorities found child *advertiser censored* on a computer, computer disks and other materials Rivas owned back in April. Two of the images on the computer showed a 4-year-old girl naked and bound by Velcro restraints in sexually-suggestive positions, the affidavit states. North Charleston police arrested Rivas in April on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, second and third degree. The case was later taken over by federal authorities.

Court documents indicate that Rivas "did coerce a person under the age of 18 to engage in sexually explicit conduct including the lascivious exhibition of the genitals for the purpose of producing depictions of such conduct...."

If I'm reading this correctly, Rivas produced this child *advertiser censored*. That poor little child. And just the target age for Sesame Street. I have to wonder why the feds picked it up. Either he sent the images across state lines, to another country, or (this was a new one for me) the equipment he used to produce the *advertiser censored* was manufactured in another country.

An update today:

'Sesame Street' composer in child *advertiser censored* bust
November 22, 2011

"An award-winning composer and former fine arts instructor at a private school in Charleston pleaded not guilty Monday to making child *advertiser censored*...."

and

"...Also Monday, Rivas posted 10 percent of a $300,000 bond and was placed on house arrest except for work or other court-sanctioned outings, records show. He was also ordered not to have contact with the alleged victim, not to access the Internet or be around any children without supervision...."

and

"....Rivas worked as a jazz music instructor at Charleston private school Porter-Gaud from 2002 until 2009..."

and

"...Porter-Gaud was embroiled in scandal in the 1990s when former students claimed a teacher had sexually abused them. Eddie Fischer, who taught at Porter-Gaud and other area schools, died in 2002 while serving a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to sex abuse charges. Dozens of former students sued Porter-Gaud, alleging administrators did little or nothing to stop Fischer when he worked there in the 1970s and 1980s, and a jury in 2000 awarded $105 million in damages. That case and more than 20 others were later settled out of court for tens of millions of dollars...."

And the Porter-Gaud website:

http://www.portergaud.edu/

"....Offering coeducational instruction in grades 1-12, Porter-Gaud is an independent, college-preparatory day school in Charleston, South Carolina...."

So, Rivas spent seven years teaching at a school filled with children 6-18. And not just any school, but a school which has a track record of not listening to the shameful disclosures of its students.

So true to the BBM.

Unbelievable.

An overview of the climate where Rivas taught:

Fischer confirms 39 victims
DEPOSITION: Convicted pedophile Eddie Fischer talks about his life and his victims in a nine-hour deposition
August 20, 1999

"During a glimpse into the mind of a convicted pedophile, Eddie Fischer admitted recently in a sworn deposition that he molested at least 39 boys - three times the number of victims who filed criminal charges against him. During the nine-hour deposition, Fischer also said that he was molested as a child, and that he didn't believe he was a homosexual.

At one point, he described himself as a victim's "helper friend." He said he paid tuition for another boy to attend Porter-Gaud School, where he taught for 10 years. Later in the deposition, he acknowledged, "I was responsible. I was wrong." Fischer, 71, taught in Charleston's private and public schools for nearly four decades. In April, a judge sentenced him to 20 years in jail in connection with 13 sexual abuse charges...."

and

"....But after the sentencing, lawyers for victims suing Porter-Gaud and the Charleston County School District, subpoenaed Fischer and grilled him on his teaching career and his pedophilia. A 437-page transcript of the deposition was obtained by The Post and Courier. The deposition took place at Lieber Correctional Institution on June 29. Sources say Fischer was animated and cooperative...."

As I said....a climate, where Rivas worked:

http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=470922

"....The settlement marks what could be the final chapter in a story that shook up the community - about how secrecy helped a pedophile harm dozens of boys. It began with Guerry Glover, a former Porter-Gaud student who was molested by Fischer in the 1970s and early 1980s. As Glover came to terms with his emotional wounds, he approached Porter-Gaud leaders in 1986, 1994 and 1997 - each time hoping they would help him stop Fischer from hurting other boys.

Each time he was rebuffed.

Glover's frustration and anger grew, finally outweighing his fear about going public. In October 1997, he went to police. Fischer was arrested a few days later. As news of Fischer's arrest spread, a common refrain from his former students was that "everyone knew about Fischer." Some said he was known as "Sweet Eddie." Others said that when Fischer was a coach, he would often tell boys to "drop their drawers" if they came to him with an illness or a minor injury.

As one Porter-Gaud student said in a 1998 interview with The Post and Courier, "There is a large segment of people who live in downtown Charleston, who work with each other every day and share a common secret that they're desperately trying to hide...."
