A Tennessee man has confessed to killing 11 women in five states and then recanted, and cops said today they plan to give him a lie detector test to determine which of his statements may be a lie.

According to Pearl, Miss., police spokesman Butch Townsend, Charles Krauss told these "grandiose tales" shortly after being arrested for a traffic violation, around 6 p.m. last Saturday.

The 49-year-old had been driving a truck he allegedly stole in Knoxville, where police say Krauss used to live. Krauss said he was passing through Pearl on his way to Florida, where he was planning to see his relatives.

TULSA, Oklahoma – A self-proclaimed serial killer wanted in connection with the disappearance and possible murder of a Tulsa woman is behind bars in Mississippi, Tulsa Police said Wednesday.

Charles Krauss, also known as Tim Foster, was arrested on August 6, 2011, in Pearl, Mississippi for driving a stolen vehicle.

According to Tulsa Police, Krauss admitted to killing several women since the late 1980s, including a Tulsa woman named "Nikki" on August 2, 2011

Police in Mississippi were left baffled when a man arrested for a traffic violation confessed to killing 11 women - at least three of whom turned out to be alive.

Charles Krauss from Tennessee was caught driving a stolen truck as he was passing through Pearl, Mississippi, on his way to visit relatives in Florida.

But when he 49-year-old was questioned by police, he made a chilling confession they weren’t expecting.

Confession: Charles Krauss from Tennessee told police he had killed 11 women in five states across the U.S.

He claimed to have abducted prostitutes from five states, raped and strangled them before digging their graves.

Investigated: Charles Krauss will be given a lie detector test today to find out whether he was telling the truth about the murders

Police are planning to look through CCTV footage of a shop in the area where Krauss claims he bought caustic soda, garbage bags and rope.

Police in Athens, Georgia, are still bemused as Krauss’s description of where he left a body does not appear to be any recognisable place in the area. Further still, there are no reports of missing people in the vicinity.
Police plan to give him a lie detector test today to determine which of his statements are lies.

If it is confirmed Krauss lied about the alleged murders, he will be charged with giving a false statement to police officers.

He is currently in jail in Mississippi with a $500,000 bail and has been charged with receiving stolen property.

No evidence can be found to back up claims of a man who said he had killed 11 women in five states, police say.

Charles Timothy Krauss, 49, was arrested Aug. 6 in Pearl, Miss., on a complaint of possessing a stolen car, Walker said.

Investigators were able to determine that Krauss was in Tulsa and in Knoxville, Tenn., on the dates he told police. Tulsa investigators found pawn tickets from multiple pawn shops that indicated that he was in Tulsa on the dates he claimed in late July and early August.

But Walker said any evidence of a homicide is lacking.

Elsewhere, detectives also are discovering that Krauss' claims might have been exaggerated.
