Friday, November 25th, 2011 an elk hunter discovered a skull while traversing a drainage near Nicolai Mountain.

Saturday morning, November 26, Clatsop County Search and Rescue returned to the scene to search for additional clues. The team located additional skeletal remains and clothing items along the stream bed. No source of identification was found during the search. Clothing found include blue BDU style pants and a 2XL, black, Addias brand shirt.

25-40 years old male, height estimated at 72 (
Degraded navy blue T-shirt, "Adidas" brand. Logo is plastic script writing, see photos.
Navy blue BDU cargo pants with a black leather belt/silver buckle
Black plastic framed sunglasses with blue tinted lenses
Many post-it notes with miscellaneous information: names, phone numbers, recipes, lists
 
you'd think LE would have called a few of those phone numbers they found on the post-its by now.

Probable year of death 2010 to 2011
 
"It could be a homicide or simply "It could be a homicide or simply someone that got lost that we don't know about, or it could be a suicidesomeone that got lost that we don't know about, or it could be a suicide," Bergin said. "We have no idea at this time. We are just putting pieces together in hopes that we can get this person identified. Right now we just don't know the who, what, when or why."

The remains will be sent to the Oregon State Police Crime lab and the state medical examiner's office for identification.

Brian Jones and Donnell Love have been excluded.
 
There is no mention of shoes? Did I miss it?

Location seems pretty out of the way.

More than three years after Clatsop County sheriff's deputies discovered human remains near Nicolai Mountain, detectives have figured out the identity of the person, but they still don't know how he died.

Deputies said the remains are those of Justin Anthony Eraci, who would now be 34 years old...

Deputies said Eraci's last known address was in California, but items found near his body suggest he was in Portland before his death.
