Moriarty was just on the morning show discussing this and made a point to say that it was not a great idea to claim that she drowned before they do an autopsy. So, this show shall be interesting.
Thanks for letting us know its going to be on, otherwise I would not have known.
Have it saved to be taped now.

48 HOURS MYSTERY brings you not just Commissioner Dormer’s theory, but also that of a retired NYPD Commander who has studied hundreds of serial killers. The broadcast will include the chilling details of how the killer of the other women terrorized his victims’ loved ones, information about Joseph Brewer who hired Shannan as an escort the night she disappeared, and a closer look at Michael Pak, Shannan’s driver and one of the last people to see her alive. 48 HOURS MYSTERY digs deep to report the latest in this case, in hopes that the families of these victims may one day find resolution.

“You know, that’s explainable because she’s hysterical,” said Dormer. “We know that and she’s discarding her possessions as she moves along. Her jeans could have come off moving in that environment. We’ve looked at this very carefully and that is a possibility, that the jeans came off and she kept running, kept running towards the lights. Obviously, she was disturbed that night.”

I personally haven't ruled out the drowning theory yet. If she did remove her own pants it was likely because it was restricting her range of motion. I would think really tight jeans in a wet marshy environment would hinder one's ability to move. Just a thought.

Thanks for the thread Clone. I have seen several promos for this show on CBS tonight and it is one that will make you look right over at the TV. Sounds like an interesting show. Hope it is as 'hard hitting' as it's promo. ;}

Quote from above linked article:

Dormer voiced what everyone feared. "We're looking at that, that we could have a serial killer," he said.

Huh? Could? It is obvious that there IS a serial killer. Is this backtracking to keep the public at ease or just a nervous mistake?

Forgive me, but I honestly don't want to hear one more word out of Dormer's mouth. It's all a bunch of hogwash, imo.

This is starting out disappointing since it just seems like a rerun.

Yeah. It seems a basic overview. I was hoping for maybe they did their own investigation and maybe found new information. Maybe near the end they will say something.

Oh well, anything to keep this case in the public eye will help.

Wow! I am only slightly familiar with this case and just watched the show. I was shocked at some of the ridiculous things that Com. Dormer said. Are we to accept that Shannon just ran like a maniac into this area, stopping to take off her jeans, throw down her cell phone and purse, and then just lay down and died? And, the majority of these victims were escorts from Craigslist, as Shannon was, but that he didn't think they were connected? What is wrong with this man?

OK..... the biggest surprise/disappointment for me in the '48 Hours Mystery' show just now, was the almost complete absence of any mention of the HUGE connection to Manorville! This SK has been out in front of the public from day one!!! He hasn't buried his victims.... he just dumps them on the side of the road in Long Island (wrapped in burlap and tossed into thick brush), and in Manorville, he dismembered them and left parts on the top of piles of wood. He WANTS the bodies to be found... at least part of him does. If I were a human sick enough to do what he has done, I would be PIZZED OFF at the '48 Hours Mystery' people for not having focused on my early crimes that obviously have a connection to Long Island because I dumped the early bodies in both places!!! AGHHH!!!! :banghead:

Correction: dormer said shannan RAN out of her jeans.

BWAHHHAHA!!!! :floorlaugh: You couldn't write this stuff and keep a job!!

Considering that she was an escort and according to her sister liked to be a "diva", I think it's safe to assume that her jeans were probably very tight and not likely to just slide off. She would have had to deliberately have taken them off or had them removed by somebody else.

Running out of her jeans? That's crazy talk.

So happy you brought that up Clem Snide!!! If she DID decide that her jeans were an encumbrance to her running into the bramble, she would not have gone 5 yards before she decided that the "bramble" was more difficult to run through naked!!! How stupid is that???

For some reason, I picture this perp as a wanna-be Lex Luthor of the serial killing world in search of his Superman. Someone with whom he can match wits and engage in highly intellectual repartee. Instead, it looks like the perp wound up with Chief Wiggum by way of Ireland.

I bet that sticks in the perp's feral craw.

This is one really bizarre case in so many ways. I'd love to learn all about it, but I don't think I could get caught up with all that's happened so far. But, one thing I do know is that Dormer must really think that the public is outrageously stupid to think we'd believe any of what he said.

I got the impression from tonight's show that the SK has a very soft and well controlled voice. To me that would say he could be a total intellectual but also confident about how he comes off to people. His main problem I think is that he is a sexual sadist and putting that together with the intellectual is plum scary - hard to spot.

They said he will kill again unless he is caught or dies first. White, 29 to 39. What they didn't mention is the prosecutor in SC, who acc to Bo Dietl, is a real sharp- cookie. Bo is a NewYorker so I do appreciate his opinion about that.

Watching towards the end of the show they went over Shannon's path that night, showing Gus's house and then the red circle down at the end of Anchor Way. I thought, LE must have a lot of info now about Shannon's case. She talked to 2 other homeowners after Gus, the Cannings and then Barbara Brennen's. And then there is CPH's account of seeing her that early morning and taking her into his house, her driver picking her up in the morning.

I was glad the show did point out that as Shannon reached that spot on Anchor Way, down at it's ending, she was very close to Hackett's house, and that is also close to where her personal effects were found.

I say this case needs a completely new team to review every detail in this case!!

I didn't mind it being a rerun at all, these girls/women deserves to have their story out there again.

This is OT, but it irritates me that it seems to be a consensus in the US now that every person with bipolar is crazy or just downright trouble. I see time and time again (also here on WS) statements like "she's probably bipolar" or "he must be the killer, his actions are very bipolar."
