The wooded area is just off Georgia 400 and McFarland Road, just inside Forsyth County near the Fulton County line.

Authorities estimate the bones could have been on the land for eight to 10 years, or more. Besides the bones, investigators also found some clothes scattered through the area and are assuming they are linked to the remains.

This is not far from me. Trying to figure out the easiest method to help search for possibilities, but I'm not a regular in this area of the forums.

If your local reporters new about NamUs, they would know there are at least two missing persons from Alpharetta:

Kenneth Hill:
660

Mariana Pineda:
9299

Here's one more, missing from Johns Creek, but he lived in Alpharetta.

Orlando Jordan

The 10-year timeframe seems a little long considering that clothing was found with the remains. One would think that clothing would deteriorate over a decade.

Hmm...well, I live here and read the news (been on WS for 9 years now) and I've never heard of any of these three people. Or, I should say, I don't remember hearing about them. So when LE says, "no one immediately comes to mind" I get what he's saying. ***ETA: there are no missing persons from Forsyth Co from 2002-2006 in NAMUS. Weird.

I did think of Justin Gaines - it wouldn't be far from where he disappeared - but if they think the remains could be 10 years old then it's not him. I wonder how accurate that is? Can they be more specific with forensic testing?

Also, someone commented on the article Kimster posted that her son was missing. But she doesn't say who her son is.

The problem is that it is so close to GA 400 that the person could have disappeared from much further away, even if it doesn't turn out to be a homicide.

I hope they can figure out who this is so their family can at least lay them to rest respectfully.

She said that her son was missing for seven years from Cherokee County, and had a front tooth capped, and metal screws in his left elbow.

I checked my list for males missing from Georgia from 30-Dec-2003 to 30-Dec-2004, and came up with 8 missing people. None of them fit that description.

I also checked the UID listing for males in Georgia with capped teeth and/or medical hardware. I found one black male with medical hardware in the knee, but none with MH in the elbow.

I get what LE is saying too. I'm sure whoever they interviewed is knee deep in this case, and several others and doesn't know every case from the beginning of time from memory.

My comment was more to the fact that the news media doesn't really seem to know much about NamUs. Sorry if it came off differently.

The place where the remains were found is right by my office. :( I just wonder who it is..

Have they determined age, male or female...

I ran a search for a Hispanic Male from Georgia last known alive from 2002-2008, and found nobody fitting those conditions.

No luck in Alabama, Tennessee, or South Carolina, either.

When I looked at Florida, I came up with the following possibilities.

Orestes Perez (Miami, FL): https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/10145/6/

Alberto Batista (Auburndale, FL): https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/5721/4/

Humberto Giraldo (North Miami Beach, FL): https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/11639/2/

Juan Lugo (Hialeah, FL): https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/12104/1/

In North Carolina:

Jose Trochez (Gastonia, NC): https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/10591/2/

Jose Espinoza (Charlotte, NC): https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/2454/1/

All of these are quite far away, with Jose Trochez being the closest at 206 miles.

We also have to remember that it might not be someone who has ever been reported missing. Since they don't know about a COD, the body could also belong to someone who died of natural causes or an accident.

He could have been homeless or someone who moves from place to place frequently, or just someone who doesn't have anyone close enough to file a missing persons report.

Also, we have a large population of illegal immigrants here. If the family is not here legally, they may have been afraid to report him missing. :(

Whoever he is, I hope they can find out so his family can lay him to rest.

I am curious as to how they are able to determine he was hispanic...

Another missing FL Hispanic male:

santos_felipe.jpg

http://projectjason.org/forums/index.php?topic=602.0

Name: Felipe Santos

Classification: Endangered Missing Adult
Date of Birth: 1980-05-26
Date Missing: 2003-10-01
From City/State: Naples, FL
Missing From (Country): USA
Age at Time of Disappearance: 24
Gender: Male
Race: Hispanic

Saw the show "Disappeared" on Discovery ID and, suspiciously enough, both he and Terrance Williams were last seen in custody of a Collier County, FL sheriff's deputy who has since been fired about being deceptive about the circumstances in his handling of Williams at the very least. He detained both men in separate traffic incidents, and they both disappeared. Williams and Santos did not know each other.

williams disappeared on 1/12/04. http://findthedisappeared.com/profiles/terrance-williams-47/

I randomly stumbled on this thread today and only read the headline. However in searching NAMUS for another MP, I found Troy Lee Lambert, who had a crooked right pinky finger and went missing from Louisiana in 2006. NAMUS says Troy Lambert was Caucasian, but I don't think that's a reason to exclude him right away because who knows. Per LSU FACES, DNA is unavailable.

Does anyone know if there is any further information on the UID? Can't find this one on Georgia's UID website.

Is this the NamUs listing for this UID person? If so, NamUs is saying African-American male.

I'm guessing UP10438 is probably is the same, given the date found and the fact that there are no other Georgia UIDs found around the same time. Zero ruleouts in Namus.

Going through the possible matches that were from closer than 200 miles and listed above:

Kenneth Hill - Namus is down.
Mariana Pineda is female.
Orlando Jordan might still be a possible - and I agree with the comments above that the 10 year timespan seems long given the clothing should have deteriorated. Time between Orlando's LKC and UID found is 3yr4mth. www.namus.gov/MissingPersons/Case#/5147?nav
Justin Gaines was white and since Namus has quite a detailed description of what he was wearing when last seen, it would presumably have been an easy ruleout? According to Justin's Namus he's not been compared/ruled out against this UID www.namus.gov/MissingPersons/Case#/5696?nav
Unnamed man listed at Post 6 above was maybe Stephen Lankester-Cox missing from Acworth GA since 2004 - his Namus mentions the screws in the left elbow (but not a capped tooth) According to his Namus he's not been compared against this UID www.namus.gov/MissingPersons/Case#/454?nav
