Can we have a list of only the facts confirmed by police listed here since we have a rumor thread?
With all of the valid theories as a community I have read its hard to go back and separate them.
thanks

Here is a fact that I find interesting: the first 4 bodies were not buried - they were "covered" in burlap and placed on top of the ground. The Manorville victims were also on top of the ground, some of the body parts were in black garbage bags but not buried. SG's body was on top of the ground. For what it is worth, the AC victims were on top of the ground, but may not be related. Fact: The SK does not like to bury his victims, or even go to any elaborate attempts to hide them.

Just a suggestion: Let's provide msm links for each fact we post. It's helpful to have those links located in one place, and it also avoids debate. :)

I guess I should post something there are just so many out there.
In my head I had envisioned at home making documents of the time line, that is not happening. I am on a borrowed computer for now, till mine comes back.

So here is a recap of the events so far and maybe someone can post the facts of each victim in a post when they can if so inclined? I will try and do the same.

December 11, 2010: A Suffolk County Police canine unit investigating a missing persons case regarding Shannan Gilbert, a 24-year-old New Jersey woman who was reported missing in May and last seen in Oak Beach, discover what they believe are human skeletal remains at Gilgo Beach, three miles west of Robert Moses bridge, at 2:45 p.m.

December 13, 2010: The remains of three more bodies are found in the same location, within 500 feet of each of other.

December 15, 2010: The FBI offers up its forensic and investigative services in the case. Police seize a white SUV from an Oak Beach residence as part of the remains investigation.

December 16, 2010: Suffolk County Medical Examiner reports the remains are all female victims and that Gilbert is not one of the four female bodies discovered. The ME’s office holds a press event to explain forensic investigation approach.

December 17, 2010: Police hold a press conference to provide an update of the investigation, stating it had completed a comprehensive search of the beach area in both Nassau and Suffolk along Ocean Parkway.

January 19, 2011: Police identify one victim as Megan Waterman, a 22-year-old Maine woman reported missing this past June from Hauppauge.

January 22, 2011: Remaining three victim identities still unknown.

January 24, 2011: Police reveal identities of three remaining victims and Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota declares the victims are the work of a serial killer. He also reveals all four worked as prostitutes using Craiglist ads. Police say the women were killed at different times, possibly a year apart in one case, and disposed of at different times. Suffolk Police Commissioner Richard Dormer says beach search would resume once weather conditions improve in spring.

March 29, 2011: Police search teams return to Gilgo Beach to resume search for Gilbert.

March 30 2011: Police confirm discovery of more possible human remains at a site east of the original search location.

March 31, 2011: Police rule out that the fifth set of remains discovered a mile east of the first four sets are not those of Shannon Gilbert, the missing 24-year-old New Jersey woman and Craiglist escort. Gilbert was last seen after visiting a client in Oak Beach.

April 4, 2011: Police find three more sets of human remains between Oak Beach and Gilgo Beach, bringing the body count to eight.

April 5, 2011: Police say Shannan Gilbert, the woman last seen in Oak Beach on May 1, 2010 is not one of the three bodies discovered on April 4.

April 7, 2011: The upcoming weekend and April 11, 2011 will mark the fourth-month mark in the serial killer investigation as police continued their seven-mile beach search.

April 7, 2011: Suffolk County Police schedule a briefing at a command center set up at the former OBI bar on Ocean Parkway and announced the Suffolk search effort is completed.

April 11, 2011: Two sets of bones are discovered by police near the Jones Beach water tower, bringing total body count in Gilgo/Ocean Parkway serial killer investigation to 10. The remains, which are confirmed as human bones later int he day, are found just hours after Nassau, Suffolk and State Police embark on an intensive search of the parkway area west of the Suffolk County line.

April 12, 2011: An aerial search by Nassau Police of the western portion of Ocean Parkway reveals no more bodies. Police later announce intentions to begin searching the waterways around Oak Island.

April 13, 2011: Suffolk Police schedule a press briefing at 1 p.m. at Yaphank headquarters but note in the press alert that no major developments are expected to be announced. Police will initiate aerial searches using advanced photography technology and have begun waterway search efforts.

April 21, 2011: Beach search efforts put on hold.

April 29, 2011: New York State Police announce they will conduct a search of Wantagh Parkway and close the road from Ocean Parkway to Merrick Road starting Monday, May 2 at 9 a.m.

May 3, 2001: New York State Police initiate a new search around the southern portion of the Robert Moses Causeway with Suffolk canine and homicide task force members participating. There is still no news regarding identification of the last six sets of human remains.

May 9, 2001: Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says the last four sets of remains are not related to the serial killings of four women first found at Gilgo and that two sets of remains are related to two different female deaths, the death of an Asian man and death of a child.

June 8, 2011: A three-hour scrutiny of beach sites near Robert Moses Causeway Tuesday did not unearth any further human remains.

July 12, 2011: Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer appears on an national news broadcast to state police are making progress though no imminent arrests are in progress.

September 19, 2011: Suffolk Police release a news alert they will hold a media briefing on the case on Tuesday, September 20th.

September 20, 2011: Suffolk Police Tuesday released facial sketches and jewelry items related to three of five unidentified bodies discovered last spring in the ongoing Gilgo Beach serial killer investigation. Police say they are still working on a sketch of one female victim.

November 30, 2011: Suffolk Police Commissioner Richard Dormer says police believe the 10 deaths are the work of one serial killer who is likely a Long Island male resident and that the murders may have started as far back as 15 years ago given related body parts found in Davis Park and Ocean Beach. Dormer states the missing Shannan Gilbert case is likely unrelated to the murders of eight women, one male and one toddler found between December 11, 2010 and April, 2011. Police say it is possible that Gilbert is dead and her body is along the beach area where she went missing from Oak Beach back in May, 2010.

December 5, 2011: Nearly three dozen Suffolk Nassau and State Police officers, along with nearly a dozen canine units, converge on Ocean Parkway about 8 a.m. to search between Robert Moses Causeway and Jones Beach, as well as specific sites on Bay Parkway and Wantagh Parkway to re-search 90 points of interest identified by FBI aerial photography earlier this spring. At a 3 p.m. press conference SCPD announces no new evidence has been found during the day's search and searches will continue but none are planned at this point.A New York Times television critic states that A&E documentary airing today on case indicates police appear "somewhat lacksadasical" in regard to investigation.

December 6, 2001: Police state that a pocketbook that may have belonged to Shannan Gilbert was found during a search on Tuesday, Dec. 5 in the marshland near where Gilbert was last seen running toward in Oak Beach. Police state no human remains were found Tuesday or today, and wouldn not initially comment on other items.

December 7, 2011: SCPD returned to the marsh area to resume search. Later in the day police report a cellphone, sneakers, jeans and shirt that may have been Gilbert's were found. Police Commissioner Richard Dormer is quoted in published reports that Shannan Gilbert's body is in the marsh area and that police intend to find it. Published report states that the canine officer who first discovered the first set of remains on December 10, 2010 was the one who found the pocketbook.

December 8, 2011: SCPD return to marsh area in Oak Beach to resume search.

December 13, 2011 Skeletal remains found.

December 17, 2011 Confirmed remains are Shannan Gilbert.

Was it sneakers or ballet shoes that were found? Don't mean to be picky, but the items they say they found are important to compare to other witnesses accounts of what Shannan had with her that night and what people say she was wearing. So far we had strappy heels, boots, and ballet shoes. If you add sneakers that's a lot of shoes for her to be carrying around. Especially since GC says he did not see her with a purse or bag.

12/11/2010: The Suffolk County police officer who found the first body was 59 year old officer John Mallia, a 31-year veteran of the Suffolk County Police Department and a former private investigator. He and his 7 year old dog, Blue, a German shepherd, have worked together since 2005. The first body was discovered on 12/11/2010.

12/13/2010: "Two days later, Officer Mallia and Blue returned to the area in the morning to help homicide investigators collect evidence. But about 500 feet from the first body, the officer found a second body wrapped in burlap. Officer Mallia made that discovery alone, since Blue was still in the car."

"By 1:20 p.m. that December day, the officer and Blue had recovered two more bodies."

I want to find all the reports of her clothing that she has been reported to have worn that night. I shall try tomorrow night to place it all in one post. It is odd.

@ The Quiet Girl

Thanks for making this thread! It was so needed.

This Article States What Items of Shannan's Were Found

It was reported on JJ's Field Notes Blog that Gus Coletti stated she was wearing a white tank blouse when she was at his steps asking for help. That link is now unavailable. I am not sure how a source of blog is viewed. When they include an interview I see it as having more weight, imo.

Edit To Add:
on one article of JJ's here during an interview he states, She was wearing a tank top no color mentioned.
so ignore the white tank blouse comment till I find that article, ty
“I have a question. Was she wearing a leather jacket?” I ask.

“Over her shoulder,” he says.

“Wow, you remember everything,” Sandy says.

“Oh yeah I do,” he responds.

“Sandals or boots on,” I ask.

“I don’t know. I didn’t look. I know that she had a tank top on. Not a halter.”

“One earring or two?” I ask.

“I didn’t…”

Here is that article of Gus Coletti stating she was wearing a light colored tank, this is why I thought we needed a facts only thread. It is easy to misinterpret or remember the wrong person with the wrong article .
1. 5 am Shannan Reported Wearing Light Colored Tank

Please add more with links to this post if you are able too, thank you!

Stated here that in April 2011 advanced aerial search was performed, nothing was stated to be found in April.

Witness accounts are not facts. Almost all the witnesses in this case are lying and covering up the facts. That includes the authorities. Too many people are unable to understand this, so I believe this thread just causes more confusion.

Redbird, I agree that everyone in this case is lying and covering up facts. And I mean Ev. Ry. One.! JMO and I have no concrete evidence to back this up.

But at this point in time, confirmed statements thru msm from authorities is all we have to go on and i feel it is important to document for future comparison/reference.

The players' accounts of the night Shannan disappeared seems to change with the tides....

mwm

I dont think, obviously this will lead to more confusion. I was thinking more in line with documenting things in one place as a reference.
Now it can be debated what is a fact and things may not be proven so till a court deems it so?
idk anyway I like this

I don't agree that everyone is lying and/or covering up facts. Some people are simply genuinely mistaken. All the more reason to have this thread, imo.

The rule of thumb, according to WS rules, is that we should consider it fact if it's verifiable via msm. Now, obviously, there is bad reporting (in this case particularly), but if several msm sources state something as a fact, I see absolutely no reason to debate it's validity.

All MOO, of course.

I think it will be enormously helpful to have what "facts" we can gather here in one thread. The timeline that The Quiet Girl posted was great! Saved me a lot of work because I had been planning on doing that. I am going to try and avoid things that don't seem concrete, but there is still a lot of information that we can post here.

I know everyone here have plenty of good info. I wanted to do this at home but, noway could I. So I am borrowing you guys by helping me do it together.
So thankful to everyone here, honestly. Thank god for you guys gathering and keeping this story alive.

Fact: Amber Lynn Costello - Received "several" phone calls from her "date" on September 2, 2010. She was promised the "unusually high amount of $1500.00" for the date. She typically used her roommate's ("DS") phone to make dates as a "safety measure" and he seems to have been pretty savvy to where she was, and what she was up to, i.e. "in call" vs. "out call". After several phone calls, Amber felt comfortable enough with the SK to leave that night around 10:30 p.m. She was only wearing a pink hoodie and jeans. What kind of $1500.00 date requires you to show up in a pink hoodie and jeans? :waitasec: Amber was NEVER REPORTED MISSING by the roommate or her sister, who was 'close' with her. Why???

Hi Reannan, About Officer Matilla and Blue, I think there is something else they discovered as well as those 3 bodies. It would be nice to include it here and for the life of me can't r4emember now what it was.

Did they discover either SG's belongings or remains?

Is this officer ripe for some sleuthing? So odd,his timely discoveries IMO

Hey Scandi!! This same officer also discovered the body of Nicole Tessa on 12/21/2010 - shortly after she went missing - two days, I believe?? She had only been married for a short period of time (four months???) and her husband looks good for her case. In any case, I do not think it is involved with the LISK.... just intersting that Officer Mallia and his amazing dog have found so many bodies!!! I think I would like both of them if I met them in RL. As a Ws'er , nothing is off of the table for me. :)
