Family, friends search for answers in case of missing Bremerton teen

[snip]

Scott, 19, was last seen with friends around 10 p.m. Oct. 27 at Evergreen-Rotary Park, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office. While it's not uncommon for him to disappear on weekends, his mother said he's always with someone. For him to disappear without telling anyone his whearabouts is uncharacteristic, his mother said.

Scott recently had surgery for a broken jaw, and doctors wired it shut. He was prescribed opiate pain medication and was supposed to show up to a doctor's appointment Monday for further treatment, Herrera said.

Scott Wilson, Kitsap County sheriff's spokesman, said the case has been assigned to a detective for review. Wilson said while Scott had been known to stay under the radar at times, the length of time he's been missing at this point heightens the urgency

Still no sign of Bremerton teen who disappeared in October

Amid the glow of candles and the recital of prayers at Evergreen Park on Wednesday, Ralph Scott pleaded for answers.

His son, 19-year-old Miguel Scott, went missing three months ago from the very park where his friends and family had gathered.

He was successful Friday at registering Scott in a database for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, even though Scott is 19. Scott's parents could not take that step because he is over 18 years old, but law enforcement can enter missing as old as 21 persons into the database, Doremus said.

This park is right on the Sound (actually a tributary but pretty close.) It would have been way too cold for him to go swimming - and it doesn't sound like he would have been in condition to even go in the water. But I wonder if that is where he ended up.

Is there a serial killer in Bremerton?

New details released about sudden, unprovoked attacks on the streets of Bremerton that left two women dead and one man injured in the past nine months. The man who survived a brutal stabbing said he believes it's the work of a serial killer.

The city is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

In addition, there is also a reward of $5,600 being offered for information on the disappearance of Miguel Scott, 19, whom went missing on Oct. 27, 2011, from Bremerton's Evergreen Park, which is close to the location of both murders.

I don't see much information online about Miguel's case. Drinking with friends in a park near the water and was taking pain meds after jaw surgery -- jaw was wired shut. But even if he fell in, surely he would have been found?

I don't know much about the specific park he was at, but it's located on Puget Sound which can have unpredictable currents, tidal change, etc. Being on an opiate medication could have put him in a mental state where he wasn't making safe decisions. I wish there was more information about when his friends last saw him and where he was at that time.
